Torre Abraham Lincoln, Rio De Janiero (abandoned during construction in 1972, designed by Oscar Niemeyer)

It has a functioning twin...

Too bad it's abandoned... It looks very interesting and modern even from today's perspective.

As long as they fill the entire window space with glass, unlike what its twin does.

Maybe it's a downwards flood lighting system.

At least modernise them then :p They look like they're on top since 1950. Can be really nice if they place spots or something on the flat roof.

I think this is International Style, rather than Brutalist.

Just renovate that parking lot and remove that blue thing and it will look so much better.

From the same complex:

Holy moly no wonder these buildings are recieving so much hate, if these are supposed to be the best examples, I dont want to imagine how ugly the bad ones are!!
These buildings are like voids, attracting your look as you walk by but as soon as you actually pay attention to the building you notice that theyre just outproportioned and combine normal modernist buildings with wierd forms and ornaments, that dont help the building look better but just makes it scrofulous and unsightly. I do have to admit though, that the family houses look quite nice and interesting...

Im going to post a building that luckily got demolished and is being replaced by timber-framed-houses in Frankfurt, restoring the old city center by a large bit, the Technisches Rathaus:

The ones on this page are far from the best, and the one you posted should not have been demolished, but instead renovated. Brutalism, once you look past the negative publicity imposed on it, (and the stupid name which I wish would be replaced) has a lot of interesting traits, and some are even beautiful. It's a different type of beauty than the old ones smothered in ornamentation or the new ones covered in shiny glass, to do with the angles, lines, and solid forms themselves. However, many are seen as "ugly" because of a lack of maintenance or because they're simply not "up to date"

I can't wait for the time when brutalist buildings will be seen as historic and the proper love and attention will be given to them. Should be in another 20-30 years.
