Wow! That is great! But I think it is a bit more socialist-style than brutalist. They should really renovate it/clean it, though.

Edit: WTF, it's demolished??

I think that's stretching it a bit. That looks pure postmodernist.

Wasn't that one abandoned?
Also, shame about the one in Perth. They shouldn't demolish it.

I have never heard of tyhis building before! I am so sad they demolished it. That is not Brutalism - that is expressionist. Very few expressionist buildings to be found. Why did they demolish it - it looked in decent shape, and it certainly didn't look old or outdated. Were there structural issues?

What ?! When ?! Why ?!

It was such a masterpiece, I had photos of it in screensaver for constant admiring, and was actually glad that it was so well preserved, not distorted with modifications or poor re-use adaptations....

I've also found this building from Druskienniki, don't know if it's part of the complex or something separated from it.

This new building (a Museum in Cascais, near Lisbon) isn't exactly brutalism, but is all made of concrete... redish concrete. It shows how the brutalism or neo-brutalism inspiration can get interesting new buildings, without imitating the past.

architect: Eduardo Souto de Moura

Another example, a new residential building in Zug, by the architect Valerio Olgiati.

Thanks. The Mineirao in Belo Horizonte was built in 1965, so the influence must have come from Brazil to Spain, like it also came to Paris (the result being the Parc des Princes).

Just in case there are people not aware of the awesomeness of the Mineirao, I recommend the SSC thread.

It was one of the most interesting buildings in Lithuania I would say.

Sorry for posting another demolished building: Damen Hall, Loloya University, Chicago
It had great, powerful columns of light grey concrete creating a cool vertical pattern.

Its replacement will be built in a fake old style to fit in with the rest of the university. No more contrast of architecture...
