IBM Building, Honolulu (1962)

It was at one point threatened to be demolished, but thankfully, will instead be renovated with no major changes to the design.

There is no such thing as the best brutalist building. They are all horrible and should be demolished.

If that's what you think then whats the point in visiting the thread? Do you enjoy starting arguments? Because i can't see any other reason why a person would visit a page dedicated to the love of something just in order to tell everybody that their opinion is wrong.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, everyone is different and I'm sure there are many things in life that you like that others don't.

This is a thread for lovers of Brutalism, of which there are obviously a fair amount otherwise this thread would be empty. I personally love brutalist architecture, that does not mean that I have bad taste, it perhaps just means that my definition of beauty is not as black and white as some people. So please consider letting us enjoy this thread rather than slagging it off.

Louis Kahn's Salk Institute, La Jolla, California (1963)

The empty space signifies the environment set for creation, the symmetry representing scientific progress, and the crevasses allow warm light to hit the concrete, made partly with volcanic ash.
