Too bad we cannot find better quality photos of the IBM complex... It seems really interesting.

The Tallest buildings in Glasgow.

They are somewhat unique for having hydraulic jacks in them to reduce sway. The GHA announced their demolition plan of the two towers in November 2011. The Whitevale block had closed in March 2013. The towers were part of the 2013 doors open day program. They will be demolished after the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games as they are to be used for hanging huge Commonwealth Games banners from the top. The demolition method will most likely be implosion.

I believe that the two towers have a structural defect because of the hydraulic jacks so that would give a reason that they need to be demolished. But it'll still be very sad when they're demolished.

Glasgow's been demolishing many of their blocks, probably because of the crime that takes place in and around them (Glasgow's very poor), so I wouldn't expect many of them to be kept. Nobody would afford renovating them, either.

Those twin towers were the best blocks in Glasgow, imo.

Anniesland Court, Glasgow

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
Anniesland Court is a 24-storey residential tower block in the Anniesland area of Glasgow, Scotland, designed by J Holmes & Partners and completed in 1968. It is the tallest listed building in Scotland, and is remarkably similar to Ernő Goldfinger's later and more famous Trellick Tower in London. It is the only tower block in Glasgow to have been granted a category A listing.

Yeah.

There are a few buildings in the brutalist style that retain the beton brut texture but are painted brilliant white. I stayed in a building like that in Chicago, which in itself was a really nice building, but I forgot its name.

That one is (was) cool! Looked like a retro-scifi building from another planet.

But they added a weird roof onto it later on...wtf? No wonder it was demolished.

That sloping roof was added in 1987 to combat the severe damp & mold that they suffered from. It didn't work. It also ruined the building's looks.
As a side note, they were designed by Sir Basil Spence.
