I wonder how long these buildings will last, considering they are mostly made of exposed concrete, and not all of them get proper maintenance.

Nice find! Reminds me of that building in London that got demolished from the ground up.

These are guard rails - to keep people from falling. Vertical segments - just for design.

Avala Tower, Belgrade, Serbia (1965, destroyed 1999, identical reconstruction finished 2010)
I like that they saw the beauty of the space age modernist design and rebuilt it as it was meant to be.

Nowadays, the facade is covered with RGB leds and it's used for some urban artists and interventions, like these:

Some say that l'Unite d'Habitation by Le Corbusier was the first concrete brutalism, (Corbusier never referred to his work as such) but there's differing opinions that think the title belongs elsewhere. You may be interested in reading Jonathon Meades' excellent article http://www.theguardian.com/artanddes...-brutalism-a-z (if you haven't already read it)

I just love that unashamed use of concrete. It really speaks out.

Some love for the Pirelli Building by Marcel Breuer

Even before I got into brutalism, I loved this building. It uses a fine concrete and plays with light and space really well. Scary to think it was nearly demolished.
