How Long Is Too Long?
Boston Mayor Thomas Menino announced to day he was retiring after 20 years in the job. That got me to thinking about Buddy's decision to remain mayor of Orlando rather than running for governor. Our last three mayors stayed 10 (Glenda), 12 (Bill) and 14 (Carl) years each, and though at least two were much beloved, almost everyone was glad to see them move on at the end. Knowing we have some Bostonians among our Orlando forum folk, I was wondering what thoughts y'all might have about Boston during such a long tenure for their mayor as Buddy will hit 13 years at the next election and if you think O-town might play out the same way.

spencer -- not ignoring you. I've actually been pondering the question for a few days. I'll get back to you with a more thoughtful response.

BTW, regarding the question of Orlando's "style," I always leaned towards Florida Cracker/Craftsman Bungalow. In some ways, I always thought DuPont Centre I (now BoA) captured it rather well, not only because of the palette but also because the sloping glass roofs have always reminded me of tin roofs. SunTrust, on the other hand, always seemed a little "cartoonish" with its color scheme. I also like to leave the Mediterranean style to WP since Rollins more or less cornered the market on that.
