Honore Avenue will extend From Bradenton to Vence!
It will blend into Pinebrook Road after Laurel Road East that intersects I-75... That is why they moved the southbound lanes over when they widen 75 to six lines. I don't have any press release; I've just noticed this on google, and my observations from my commute to Sarasota

New Publix coming to city!
NORTH PORT — Plans have revived for the construction of a new Publix supermarket in North Port beginning in the fall of next year, according to Publix spokeswoman Shannon Patten.

“I’m happy to confirm that this project is moving forward,” Patten said. “The store will be located at U.S. 41 and West Villages Parkway in North Port. It will be approximately 45,000 square feet, and will employ approximately 150 Publix associates.”

Look how long it took to develop/improve Honore south of Fruitville ..awful traffic circles ?? lol

Heck, and north of 17th street the folks in the Meadows are still trying to fight an obvious need for widening (if you notice, the grading infrastructure for widening was already DONE, years ago, when Taylor Woodrow started developing in the first place) Clearly Honore is going to be a major alternative North/South corridor which is needed - it's good it actually turns into 63rd on the north flow into Manatee

A better route in the near future might be the new Cattlemen n/s that will run all the way through the Benderson development at Unv

So apparently the Sarasota condo market is back on again with an 18 story development that is breaking ground in May on the old location for Marquee on the Bay. I had never even heard of The Jewel before until they announced in the newspaper a popular downtown bar was closing next month so they could start building but apparently its at 95% deposit ready. Looking around the internet apparently this has been in the works for several years. Very nice design and it's 18 stories so not a small building for Sarasota's standards. Renderings are pretty sweet and I am glad this will be going up instead of the Marquee as I believe that building was only 10 stories.

Unfortunately it does not seem like it will crack the idiotic height restrictions in Sarasota.

Yeah it's a shame nothing really stands out, everything is the same height. There were a couple of buildings proposed that were for 25-30 stories back during the housing boom, I think that would have started something had they gone through.

And yet, at the street, Sarasota continues to outpace most of Florida's much larger cities.

I see 211 feet on the building plans plus a mini "roof spire" so this should at least be the 5th tallest building in Sarasota if not the fourth. So not bad...

my bad - from the Jewel website:

Quote:
Standing 236 feet tall at one of the city’s busiest intersections, The Jewel will be
the most visible of the three projects. It will also be the tallest building downtown.

Maybe the height limits are moving. That would be nice

If it really is 236 ft then that would put it third behind the Ritz at 261 and Plymouth Harbor at 250, just ahead of the Ritz Residences at 233.
