#West Street Hotel - Hotel - 30F+ - Durban
This one appears very much proposed conceptual at the moment with no further info available. Intersting though it was only uploaded on the firms website in June 2010 so it seems very much alive. Even if it doesnt go ahead, it at least shows that developers are getting architectual firms to design new high rises on the beachfront!

nice to see intrest in new high rises but where on West St? I mean end of west steet ie beach front is dense and not the best place to build a new high rise hotel and everything west of beachfront is also not great loaction.
I eould have thought only places suitable for new high rise hotel would be point area, pavillion site or natal command

 click on the link in the first post...Looking at the final image it doesnt look like the location would be end of West street, but actually further along the golden mile.

Me like, they must build. Took a walk around the area at the end of Smith street near the wheel & Four seasons, so much potential there.

Nice find! I hope this comes to fruition. Will be much welcome high rise for downtown. I also hope this comes up along the Golden Mile vs main West Street. Alternatively, I say knock down Beach Hotel (corner of West St and Marine Parade) and build this beauty.

thats the possible location i was thinking. Either way it would be on the beachfront. I think that end of west street node could become great if thye invest in the transport plaza for the people movers. Coastlands have plans to seriously upgrade their massive hotel and conference centre there too.

Somehow I got a feeling that this will come to fruition as Durban is certainly gonna increase their tourism numbers after this world cup and so will investment.

Sucks that this West Street Hotel has been scrapped. This should havbe added more hotel rooms to Durban's inventory.

Durban has added almost 2000 rooms in the past year already... and there are a further 550 odd currently under contruction plus another 500 confirmed with work about to start. So there are alot more coming
