If i am not wrong the Tall ones are 32 floors and the under construction buildings are going to be 39 floors.

Awesome shot by the way....place is really green and huge tracks of open space, I guess in a few years few more skyscrapers in the area but I hope they maintain all the little lakes in the area.

Whats are the left most under construction buildings in the flyover pic? Are they Manjeera buildings? I believe there are going to be 2 buildings of 23 floors and 1 building of 19 floors and another with 4 or 5 floors......
Road from JNTU to Hitec city has possibilites to become spectacular with nice buuldings on either side.

According to this thread, the taller two buildings will be 45F, flanked by two 30F towers. When did they change their plans, and why hasn't the project thread been updated?

Bumpy rides to go on till December
November 26, 2011 DC Hyderabad
Even as GHMC continues to sit on over Rs 50 crore meant for road repairs and recarpeting, the roads in the city have gone from bad to worse. Motorists have to put up with bumpy rides for a longer time as road repairs will be taken up only in the second week of December. Though the civic body officials had announced that the roads will be repaired by the end of November, now they are singing a different tune. They claim the tender process got delayed.

Over 300-km accumulated length of roads in the city, including the roads under the control of GHMC and those being maintained by Roads and Buildings depar-tment, are in a bad shape. Motorists complained that though the rainy season ended two months ago, road works have not started yet. “Why does it take two months for the tender process to be completed? What is GHMC commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu doing?” asked Ahmed Khan, a resident of Minister’s Road.

The R&B department is not better. “Since the past three years, the road leading to Hitec City from Kavuri Hills is in a very bad state. The authorities fill up potholes with stones and mud. These are washed away in no time. This road is often used by delegates and foreign visitors of various MNCs. Imagine the impression we are leaving on them,” said Rahul, a motorist. GHMC engineer-in-chief R. Dhan Singh said that estimates have been prepared and tenders will be finalised by month-end. Works will start in first or second week of December.

Major arterial roads in city to get a facelift
HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has proposed to take up comprehensive improvement and upgrading of selected major arterial roads for about 150160 km length so that they last for up to 15 to 20 years. GHMC officials said a survey of major roads revealed weak structural stability and other factors which need to be strengthened and rectified.
In the first phase, GHMC proposed to take up ten major roads covering 26 km covering Raj Bhavan road, Indira Park road, Road No 10 and 12, Banjara Hills, RP road, Liberty to Fever Hospital, Vidyanagar, Tarnaka and Charminar to Falaknuma.
The civic body has appointed Mumbaibased Consulting Engineering Services Pvt Ltd to conduct a detailed survey and investigation and carry out design and cost estimates so as to take up road repairs. They asked the consultant to prioritise the major roads to an extent of 150160 km and suggest where to lay BT road or CC road based on traffic volume.
The consultant is carrying out detailed survey for major roads in Central Zone (93.1 km), North Zone (11.5 km), South Zone (11.5 km), East Zone (13 km) and West Zone (23 km). The consultant has submitted draft DPRs for some major roads.

GHMC proposes 5-year freeze on road cutting in city

Source: TOI
Quote:
Citizens can hope for a smooth ride on most city roads with civic officials planning to stop indiscriminate road cutting by various private and government agencies. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has prepared plans to provide common ducts for utilities like cable and other service providers on identified roads.

Disclosing this at a press conference here on Monday, GHMC commissioner MT Krishna Babu said the common ducts, storm water drains, footpaths and carriageway improvements would be taken up on 170 kilometres (km) length of identified roads in the city. In the first phase, 60 km, including two stretches__ Indira Park-RTC Crossroads and Charminar-Falaknuma__ would be taken up, he added.

The commissioner said frequent road cutting by private cable, telecom and internet service providers and government agencies like the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and Central Power Distribution Company Limited (CPDCL) has been damaging roads in the city. Hanging cable wires have been posing threat, resulting in road accidents, he added.

"Now, the corporation has decided to freeze roads from further cuttings. We had a meeting with all major telecom, internet and cable operators today. The operators have been asked to give their future plans by next Friday as no road cutting permission will be given in the next five years," Krishna Babu said.

Similarly, the GHMC officials would hold a meeting with representatives of HMWS&SB and CPDCL to discuss the issue and seek their plans for the next five years on the selected roads. "Our plan is to take up 60 km length of road in the first phase. Every six months, 60 km length will be taken up as the cost of the entire 170 kms GHMC would work out to about Rs 700 crore," the GHMC chief said.

Apart from 170 km to be developed by the GHMC, another 73 km length of road, mostly on metro rail corridors, would be taken up the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited. The corporation has also prioritised another 840 km road stretch on which buses ply, however, it will be taken up in the later phases.

He said a decision has not been taken yet on modalities on who has to give permission for road cutting and maintain common ducts on the proposed model roads.

Krishna Babu said another 100 km length of the road, including tourist spots, would be refurbished and developed in the city in view of the Conference on Biodiversity slated to be held in the city in September. Delegates from over 190 countries would take part in the conference, he said. He said the state government has urged the Centre to release Rs 800 crore for various city infrastructure development works and the state government would also release funds for improvement of infrastructure in the wake of Biodiversity conference.

Plan to decongest Secunderabad

Source: http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/...cle2871572.ece

Quote:
Transport study covers S.P.Road, Rail Nilayam Road, Ministers Road and Bhoiguda Road
What ails the traffic scene in Secunderabad core which for most of the day remains choked with vehicles that are forced to crawl and pedestrians remaining tentative of every step they take?

For Area Traffic Management Studies, the Comprehensive Transportation Study (CTS) taken up on behalf of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has come up with a series of recommendation to ease the present chaos on the roads of Secunderabad, primarily around the railway station.

Mode of survey

The proposed improvements under Immediate Action Plan (IAP) followed field surveys that included reconnaissance, road inventory, traffic volume counts, pedestrian surveys and speed and delay studies in the area.

The CTS report by LEA Associates South Asia that covered the area surrounded by S.P.Road, Rail Nilayam Road, Ministers Road and Bhoiguda Road, records that almost all the roads are thoroughfares carrying the traffic moving across the city.

The proportion of thorough-traffic however was found to be relatively less on St. Mary's Road, Regimental Bazar Road and S.D. Road.

Major problems

According to it, the major problems in the area were inadequate pedestrian facilities at railway station as well as the commercial areas, ill organised bus terminals and intense parking on thoroughfares. The suggestions include a minimum of 2 metres side walk on all the roads in the area and to ensure that they remain free of encroachments.

To ease the traffic problems in the vicinity of the railway station, traffic circulation here has been proposed for reorganization into one-way system on St.Mary's Road, S.D. Road, Regimental Bazar road in front of the station northern gate.

The need for reorganising bus terminals in terms of layout and capacity here also figures in the recommendation and also the requirement of totally segregating bus stops from the carriageway.

Proposals

Noting that there was no terminal facility on Chilkalguda side which has buses being parked on the road side, it proposed a terminus facility next to the parcel office.

The other proposals included signal controls at all the junctions, discouraging long-term parking to minimize impact of on-street parking and providing off-street parking to meet present and future demands in some areas.

Flyover turns money guzzler

Source: http://postnoon.com/2012/03/06/flyov...-guzzler/35147

Quote:
The inordinate delays in completing the Hi-Tech city railway flyover which connects the busy Kukatpally and Miyapur areas to Cyber city has led to a second bout of cost escalation. The total cost of the project has now gone up to Rs. 52 crore from the revised figure of Rs.48 crore.

When the project began in 2007, the initial cost of the project stood at Rs.24.38 crore. It was slated for completion in August 2008.

The bridge is now being scheduled for completion in August this year, almost five and half years after it began. The officials of HMDA, which is executing the project, are exuding confidence in this effect.

“We have got the necessary permissions and approvals from railway authorities. We are working in full coordination with them to construct the crucial structure of 120 meters over the railway line.

We are confident that we will complete the project by the end of August,” HMDA chief engineer V Madhwa Raja told Postnoon. He also confirmed the news that the cost of the project is expected to go up by another Rs.4 crore from the existing Rs.48 crore.

“The reason for this is that the construction involves a lot of designing and technical works. It is because of this reason, that the cost is likely to go up,” Raja said.

The 910-metre long and 21.5-metre wide bridge was taken up by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) five years ago at a cost of Rs.24.38 crore. Even though there is such a huge delay in completion of the project, the officials of the HMDA justified the delay by saying that this was due to the fact that they first had to get approvals from South Central Railway for the project design.

Jayaprakash Narayan, Kukatpally MLA, says both the crucial stakeholders in the project — HMDA and railways — delayed the project by getting involved in a blame game and failing to work with any coordination.

“Being an MLA of the constituency I did my best to sort out the problem and ensured that it got administrative sanction. HMDA officials told me that they would complete this project within a six -month period. It’s not happening,” he said.

Meanwhile, thousands of IT employees who suffer due to the traffic bottleneck have separately and collectively urged the government to make HMDA and railway to work together and speed up the project.

Traffic police, GHMC join hands to make roads safer

Source: http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/...cle2962735.ece

Quote:
Roads now sport cat-eyes and other reflective material
The commuters would have noticed a significant change on the city roads these days, particularly during nights.

While many roads were devoid of reflective signage until recently, major roads and flyovers in the city are now sporting bright cat-eyes, warning a commuter about the impending turns and other obstructions.

That is not all, the road signage too is getting a fresh paint and the civic authorities are speeding up the process of placing dividers on the flyovers to separate the traffic on both sides. While as a pilot project, Masab Tank flyover was covered with concrete blocks, buoyed by the reduction in number of accidents there, the flyovers at Telugu Talli Junction near Secretariat, Basheerbagh and Narayanaguda too are covered with dividers in phases

“Incidents of motorists taking U-turns, driving on the opposite lane and overtaking, along with the lack of reflective signage on a flyover are some of the major reasons for accidents on a flyover,” Additional CP (Traffic) C.V. Anand said. These can be easily avoided by placing dividers on flyovers, cat-eyes and other reflective materials to warn a motorist of the obstructions, he added.

Traffic police has identified the stretches that need to be provided with signage and reflective materials and requested the GHMC to take up the matter. And GHMC on its part is expediting the process of making the city roads safer.

“The process of awarding tenders for providing cat-eyes and other road signage such as lane markings and zebra crossings have been completed recently,” GHMC Engineer-In-Chief R. Dhan Singh said. “We will cover all major roads and junctions in the city with signage to create better environment for the traffic. We are also providing cat-eyes, studs and other reflective material even in the smaller roads and by-lanes,” he explained.

About placing the dividers on the flyovers, Mr. Singh said that concrete blocks will be placed on more flyovers. “We have received a request from Traffic Police to cover flyovers with dividers and plans have been drawn up to complete the work at the earliest,” he added.

ASCI to monitor traffic management in city

Source: http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/...cle2982378.ece

Quote:
GHMC has decided to rope in the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) to act as an independent body to monitor the Hyderabad Traffic Integrated Management System (H-TRIMS).

The twin cities will finally have modern traffic lights soon with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a government of India undertaking, bagging the Rs. 63.6 crore project to install 220 modern traffic signals in the GHMC area.

The project is expected to be rolled out in a couple of months. GHMC in association with the A.P. Technology Services has floated the tender for supply of traffic signal hardware, networking, installation, maintenance.

Smart signals to light up your day

Source: http://postnoon.com/2012/03/12/smart...your-day/36746

Quote:
On a traffic signal post, to an ordinary commuter, there are three symbols — the gleeful green, the alluring amber and the raging red. Hyderabad’s amber lights however are usually more lethargic — never really ‘showing up’ when they need to.

The obvious result is people accidentally jumping signals, making their fright the traffic police’s delight. And then would begin the ‘Who dunnit’ game that could run into minutes and hours, depending on the energy levels of the motorist and the policeman on that given day.

Says Praneeth Mandava, a resident of Madhuranagar who commutes to his office in Banjara Hills, “The traffic signal opposite the Taj Krishna is a nightmare. The green does not work many times, and I am confused if I should go or not. The police know it is a problem with the signaling system, so I am spared of the trouble of arguing, but still every pass is worrisome.”

Better days ahead?

However, all’s not lost. Additional commissioner of police for traffic, CV Anand has some good news for us. “We are aware of the inconvenience because of the signal problems. It is a 20-year-old signaling system we use currently — the wires are old, and the poles on which they stand are older. But this is all set to change with the new signaling project called the Hyderabad Traffic Integrated Modern Systems, which is being launched in association with Bharat Electronics Limited located in Nacharam. With the new UPS system in place, signals will run 24 hours, there will be a central management of signals and the connectivity will be excellent.”

B Surya Chandar, traffic inspector for Jubilee Hills, is candid. “The repair process is on for signals. We are aware of the problematic areas and are trying our best to give the motorists the space for plausible technical glitches. Soon, we will be trained on the new signal systems beforehand so by the time they are established, we are completely trained. It is good to hear that the automated signaling system will be equipped with sensor systems that would detect the amount of traffic flow at a junction.”

A senior police officer in the city elaborated on the new system as he told us, “BEL has a proven track record of similar projects in Bangalore, with participation even in Chennai. The tender process was conducted by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority HMDA and the Andhra Pradesh Technological Services APTS, both of which come with great expertise in their fields. BEL will conduct the traffic flow study before setting up the systems, and prioritize roads with more volume of traffic.

The areas that will benefit are 222 junctions of the Greater Hyderabad area, and within a year, all the signals will be fully-functional. The next six months will see completion of work in 110 junctions.

No Traffic engineers?

Says the senior police officer, “It has been years since Hyderabad has ever had traffic engineers with the Central Road Research Institute and private agencies who study the traffic flow. We can only see volume, but not count volume. And we only take recommendations vaguely. But BEL’s study will hopefully change the current scenario.”

Zebra Crossing an issue

According to reliable sources, 70 junctions have been identified for setting up barricaded footpaths with only a passage open for zebra crossing, and supported by a signal. GHMC plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the initiatives.

With a traffic system that is infamous, the new system could put an end to synonyms like disorganised, mismanaged and nightmarish, to improved and maybe later, perfected. Hyderabad is perhaps on the way to that elusive perfection.

Roadside shrines to be covered for COP11

Source: http://www.deccanchronicle.com/chann...ered-cop11-681

Quote:
In a bid to project a cleaner image of the city during COP11, the international biodiversity convention to be held in October, the state government has opted for temporary solution of masking the religious structures that are obstructing the roads with cloth walls, and by constructing permanent concrete walls where possible.

It is estimated around 10,000 delegates from 193 countries will participate in the Conference of Parties to be held from October 1 to 19, including around 20 heads of the nations and ministers from 90 countries.

GHMC and HMDA officials are also considering Sanjeevaiah Park land of five acres to set up the Biodiversity Park and Museum. AP Biodiversity Board chairman, Dr R. Hamapaih said, “The biodiversity express train will soon arrive in the city with all exhibits, to create awareness among the public on biodiversity. The exhibits will be shifted to the park.” In the first five days of COP11 summit, the bio- safety protocol will be discussed in which 65 countries are expected to take part. This will be followed by discussions on 450 issues related to biodiversity. During the closing the day, the ministry and secretary level talks of national leaders will take place to arrive at the “Hyderabad Declar-ation”.

The tourism and road transport departments are arranging for the luxury buses for the delegates.
Chief Minister has proposed to set up a museum, pylon and a park to mark the conference. Around 125 kilometres of the roads in various areas leading to the venue from the airport, railway stations, star hotels and places of historical and tourist importance are identified for comprehensive improvement.
