The article Suncity posted in this thread says it has reached the 36th floor. I haven't got the whole thing in that shot, it was taken in a hurry. The towers are being constructed in a fairly large sprawl of chawls, and in fact it's very close to Shreepati Arcade. The second tower had risen only 9 floors I think, and both should be finished in 2-3 years.

So the one I had guessed must be it. [The tall building (with a faint crane outline) to the right of Shreepati]

I got a question on the positioning of the towers though... your photo seems to be reversed?

I read that the cost to build the towers will be like 400 crores. And the each apartment will be around a crore. Now there are just 180 apartments. How are the builders gonna recover the cost.

From the post #1

Rs 250 crore - total construction cost
Rs 1.3 to 7.3 crore - price of flats
85 flats per tower
**************

170 flats @ 4 crore (avg) = Rs 680 crore.

That will be tough....I think it will be bang in the middle, around 200m...Which is like 50m taller than the current tallest.

City,s tallest buildings in the clear

Committee proposes measures to make construction of Tardeo towers safe for hill slope.

Express News Service

Mumbai, November 28: THEY did not make any conclusive declaration of whether the Cumballa Hill slope is unstable.

Instead a Bombay High Court-appointed committee has suggested a comprehensive plan for strengthening the Tardeo hill slopes where India’s tallest residential towers are being constructed.

The committee claims the measures ‘‘will practically eliminate the likely risk of instability of the slope.’’

For starters, it has suggested that any additional construction or any further excavation on the slope must be avoided. ‘‘Rock barriers to contain rock fall and debris must be provided in addition to rock anchors for support,’’ it adds.

The three-member committee from the Indian Institute of Technology—Professor G Venkatchalam, K G Sharma and Sarvesh Chandra—submitted its final report on the stability of the hill recently, 19 months after the court ordered an investigation.

In 2002, Carmichael Road citizens approached the court on the grounds that the developer had illegally excavated the hill, thereby endangering their homes. Interestingly, the safety flaws the committee did notice were in these other residential buildings.

In the case of Usha Kiran, the city’s first skyscraper, the committee observed some loose rock within the fenced area.

Urgent attention is also needed at the compound wall behind Rushilla building, which is currently supported on a number of overhanging blocks and needs stabilisation.

‘‘The foundation of a portion of the buildings behind Anand Mahal needs repairs and strengthening,’’ the committee said.

Now, both residents and developer S D Corporation are claiming the report vindicates their stand. ‘‘This is the first relevant impact assessment study of the slope,’’ says Vidhu Nevatia, secretary of Kamal Mahal. ‘‘Now that remedial measures have been suggested, the onus is on the developer and the authorities.’’

Nevatia’s wife Jyotsna was one of the original petitioners.

‘‘As for the repairs suggested on existing buildings, we will certainly get moving on that,’’ Nevatia added.

‘‘The report proves our claim that the hill is safe,’’ said Dilip Thakkar, a partner in S D Corporation.

great news that its U/C.
Mumbai is well on its way to being the indian HK.It always did reminded me of that place & I havent been in Mumbai for a while, 7 - 8 years..What sort of stuff is for sale in Shreepati Arcade?
about the disparaty in wages Vs flat costs..
Its an unfortunate fact of market economics & the sort of thing that Indian politicians were trying to avoid by going down the socialist road. Its gratyifying to hear how many Mumbai forumers are pissed off about it.
Its much like things were here (UK) in the industrial revolution & out of it came the Labour party & trade Unions to try to redress the imballance. As india gets richer & Indian people with a social consiounce become more confident, team up with local labour groups to take on the scum in the political elite with their kickbacks that have bled india dry for so long, things will change.
This decade will realy be the begining of the future for India(as long as the politcians dont muff it).
lets hope the masala dosa becomes the BIg Mac of this century.Jai Bharati

I'm glad that you added this to SSC as well as SSP. With so many projects in so many cities it becomes difficult to navigate through all the threads and make a compilation list.
