Thanks for the warm words guys. Its an overwhelming business, this fatherhood stuff, but the wee man is being so well-behaved that its no real burden at the moment. I'm sure there will be difficult times ahead, hell, I deliberately set out to cause my parents grief sometimes and I expect this lad to be no different.

Mo, I would debate the 'bolognese' description. At the moment, it looks and feels exactly like warm marmite, though I've heard that it changes colour, consistency and smell after a few days.

Nice Historic Scotland publication on post-war Scottish architecture available here (6MB PDF file, so might take a while!):

Nice wee booklet. Anything omitted that should have been mentioned? I thought this was an interesting list

Quote:
While serving new clients, such as housing associations, or even corporate consortia capitalising on rising land and rate values, one may still perceive the next generation of architects – Page and Park, Elder and Cannon, Richard Murphy, Malcolm Fraser, Gareth Hoskins, Nord, JM Architects, RMJM, Reiach and Hall, Bennetts, Sutherland Hussey – whose body of work demonstrates a social conscience and an understanding of Scotland’s historic and contemporary identity.
HS playing favourites? No mention of everybody's darling, GMAD. And is describing the Fruitmarket Gallery as "distinctively of its time" faint praise?

Just finished reading Joe Moran's On Roads: A Hidden History and can throughly recommend it. He's a cultural historian with a superb eye and love for the ordinary. Writes a good blog to.

Just watching Jonathan Meades: Off Kilter - a three parter on BBC4 as part of its current Scottish season. Episode 1 sees Meades take a look at the architecture of Aberdeen. He's currently, as I watch the signed 3am repeat, taking a right old swipe at Trumptown....

Available to watch on iPlayer here:

Did they really need to film the first half inside Britney spears, and I think we all know which part, though?

I loved that Jonathan Meads thingy, But I always love Jonathan Meads. He may be a charlatan who means not what he says in too many big words, but I still love him!

Hi guys/girls.

As some you know I come on here asoftenas I can, and take an active interest in Glasgow and to a lesser extent Edinburgh.

Anyway, most of you may also know that I have for about the last 6-9 month's have been involved in trying to get my city (Newcastle) it's own Sub-Forum. And over the last month or two me and another member, Newcatle Historian have been mmore active in the case.
Gothic has been able to see clearly the evidence that we have shown him, that both the forumers in Newcastle and the whole SSC forum can take many positives out of the step.

Anyway, Gothic has now said to us, that support would be needed from other forumers, and mods for anything like this to go ahead.

So I have came on here and decided to ask with some cheeck, if some of you would be able to help us out and send in support of this idea to either Gothic (directly, and preferd) himself via a private message, or by sending messages of support in the petiton thread in the forum issue menu (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=824346).

I have sent a similar meesage about this, to both your mod on here and Boards.

I thankyou in advance for any support we get from you guys in all of Scotland.
