Fahrplanwechsel 10.12.2017

https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/vbz/de/...anwechsel.html

The main change is that tram line 8 will run on Hardbrucke with new terminus at Hardturm. Long Cobra trams will be uses for the entire service of line 8.
The terminal loop at Klusplatz cannot accomodate more than 2 Cobra at the same time (from line 3 and line 8) so line 15 will now stop at Stadelhofen and line 8 will be rerouted via Kreuzplatz/Englischviertelstrasse to keep serving Klosbachstrasse.

Trolleybus lines 31 and 34 will be merged, providing direct connection between Witikon and HB. If I understand correctly, the bus will not stop at Hegibachplatz anymore until the stop is rebuilt to adapt to the new route.

Some bus lines will see increased frequency and/or capacity.

If I saw correctly, old trams used for extended line 8 received new electronic route indicators replacing the electric rolls with printed names. Probably it was cheaper than extending the old system with the new Hardturm terminus.

Too bad. The sign rollers are a cool tradition that's going by the wayside. Seeing the various destinations roll through is fun. These days you only see them in certain Russian cities, rural Canadian bus systems and older cars of the NYC subway.

Yes. Go to post 139 to read about the Limmattalbahn light rail project.

I think sign rollers will disappear in (2021?) when the furniture of the new trams will be completed and all the vehicles without low floor will be retired.

In the meantime, living above one of the depots, I will continue enjoying the show
