^ What is that supposed to mean? They are being built by AnsaldoBreda out of Italy. They've built train sets for DC, Atlanta, Boston, LA & Cleveland too.

Their metro trains are fine. They only got in trouble when they tried to build high speed trains...

Well I have heard of their track record as well and they were the lowest bidder at $313 Million USD. The other bidder was CAF-USA. I just hope we don't wind up with problems with the new train sets. I still like the BUDD cars though.

YAY!!!!! FINALLY (We Are the Champions from Queen is playing) about time, i am looking forward for it to open about time now i can get to the airport easier and better this time. So Tri Rail is going in first but does that fixes the problem with Amtrak or do they still have to wait?

I was using Metrorail and Tri Rail in the summer and i thought it was going to open soon, but then the debacle came and all this was really bizarre and awkward i thought Amtrak told them very well and had meetings well organized?

^ The Miami Central InterModal station.

So now the Miami Airport will be serviced by both Miami's heavy rail MetroRail system & the Tri-Rail commuter rail system with Amtrak as mentioned above coming online sometime next year.

Tri-Rail rolls out service at Miami International Airport transit hub
04/05/2015 1:01 PM

...

The opening of the new Tri-Rail station marks the near-completion of the Miami Intermodal Center, or MIC, a $2 billion transportation hub that brings all major transportation services under one roof at the airport, including rental cars, buses, Metrorail and Amtrak. The transportation hub is not part of Miami International Airport but is considered a satellite terminal to the east, across busy LeJeune Road. Airline passengers can board an automated train, the MIA Mover, to get to the MIC and access the other transportation services.

Up until Sunday, airline passengers needing to board Tri-Rail had to take a shuttle bus to and from the Hialeah station and the airport. The former airport station was closed in 2011 to build the MIC

Bay Link group balks at study, but urges cities to get started with light-rail system

By Douglas Hanks

[email protected]

Government leaders donít want to pursue federal money for the $532 million Bay Link project, and have opted to press pause on a key study in favor of Miami and Miami Beach pursuing their parts of the light-rail system.

A Bay Link task force that includes the citiesí mayors and Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez on Monday declined to accept a consultantís request to move forward with a lengthy environmental study needed for Washington to help pay for a rail system linking Miami with Miami Beach. Instead, the group asked for a new plan that envisions Miami and Miami Beach separately studying the rail lines needed in both of their cities, with a cross-bay linkage getting its start later in the process.

^ Great news but the last part of the funding still awaits the approval from the Miami City Commission later on this month. All of the other Government agencies have already pledged their funding.
