Prada reopens its completely renovated store in Hong Kong’s IFC

Prada opened its store in Hong Kong’s International Finance Centre. The space, located inside the renowned urban shopping mall, has been completely renovated.
The store, designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi covers a total surface area of 260 square metres and houses the collections of ready-to-wear, bags, accessories and footwear for both men and women.
The striking internal facade, which looks into the mall, consists of a large entrance framed by two display windows, a light box and a third window, all of which are elegantly surrounded by a black marble cladding and allow for an ample view of the store’s interior.
The collections are presented in two large rooms which are delineated by their diverse flooring: black and white chequered marble for the entrance, which recalls the historic Prada store in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, and wheat-coloured carpet in the adjacent space.
Both environments feature walls upholstered in green canvas and furniture with polished steel frames, smoky mirrors and ivory ‘saffiano’ leather surfaces, which remind the distinctive elements of Prada stores around the world. Furthermore, the second room features a noteworthy series of polished steel and glass counters that display products in an elegant and refined manner, surrounded by glass display tables and velvet sofas.

I love Prada. That's my favorite store. What's your favorite. As far as I concerned, upon entering the store, which previously housed the SoHo branch of the Guggenheim Museum, visitors are met with a largely vacant space dominated by an oversized, round elevator. OMA is said to have spent two months of research "investigating ways to reinvent the retail experience." Perhaps as a result of this, the ground floor only has a small amount of merchandise, relegating the majority of merchandise and actual shopping activity to the basement level, which feels cramped and lacks appropriate lighting.

Prada new openings in Korea

Prada opened two new stores in Korea, in the cities of Incheon and Ulsan respectively.
Both projects are designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi.
The spaces are situated within the impressive Shinsegae Incheon and Hyundai Ulsan department stores, which are important branches of their respective chains in South Korea.
These locations are also renowned luxury shopping destinations for the young generations.
The two openings raise the total number of Prada stores in Korea to 22; in the first quarter of 2011 a new store in the city of Daejeon will be unveiled.
Prada Shinsegae space spans over a single level covering a total surface area of 200 square metres and houses the collections of bags and accessories for both men and women.
The Hyundai Ulsan single-level store covers a total surface area of 110 square metres; it houses the collections of bags and accessories for both women and men, as well as women’s footwear.

Prada opens in Daejeon

Prada opened a new store inside the Galleria Timeworld mall in Daejeon, South Korea.
The space, designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi, spans over a single level covering a total surface area of approximately 200 square metres. It houses the women’s and men’s collections of bags, accessories and footwear.
The internal facade is characterized by a sumptuous black marble cladding that encases the entrance, two large display windows with polished steel frames and light boxes.
The interior, which is divided into various polygonal-shaped areas, is defined by the classic elements that characterize the stores of the brand around the world. These include walls clad in the traditional pale green linen canvas and floors lined in wheat-coloured carpet.
The women’s area features display niches lined with ivory ‘saffiano’ leather, whilst the counters are made out of polished steel and glass. The area dedicated to the men’s collection, meanwhile, consists of rosewood cladding, wheat-coloured velvet sofas and display counters clad in black ‘saffiano’ leather.

Exciting times!!

It is apparently Prada's new concept store design and it is based on the Las Vegas Crystals City Center store;
