It deserves it's own thread. It's one of our largest, cleanest and richest cities.

Surat (Gujarati: સુરત, Hindi: सूरत) formerly known as Suryapur, is the commercial capital city of the Indian state of Gujarat and also Second largest commercial hub of western India after Mumbai. The city proper is the one of the most populous cities in the world. Surat is the administrative capital of Surat district and Surat Metropolitan Region. Surat is India's eighth largest metropolitan city. Surat is India's cleanest Mertropolitan Region.

The city is situated on the left bank of the Tapti River, 14 miles from its mouth. The Population of Surat with its twin city Navsari is above 6.2 million as of 2010. A moat divides the older parts of the city, with its narrow streets and handsome houses, and the newer suburbs. The city is largely recognized for its textile and diamond businesses. It is also known as the diamond capital of the world and the textile capital of India. 92% of the world's diamonds are cut and polished in Surat. Surat is also the Third cleanest city in India after Chandigarh and Mysore. Surat was once the largest city in India. It has one of the highest GDP growth rates in India at 11.5% as of 2008. Surat was the primary port of India during the Mughal period, a distinction it lost to Bombay during the British Raj.

RCC road in making on Pal-Hazira road which connects Rander too. This will make this area even more better



Rajhans Multiplex - 3Screens with foodcourt, gamezome, restaurants, and Maruti Suzuki showroom at front. Although its exteriors isnt that great but this multiplex is quite good from inside be it its interiors or sound system or seating arrangement, but exteriors could have been a benchmark sort of as was with Rajhans theatre at Dumas which still looks best one. BTW this multiplex is 1st theatre in this area of Adajan-Rander.

Dhiraj Sons - Departmental store. Its the oldest store of City and even after of some big players like Reliance, more, Big bazaar, etc. its sales are increasing only, they have around 5-6 branches in city and are known for customer satisfaction. Also it gave an experience of what a proper departmental store is, to Surat when not even a single proper departmental store was in whole of Gujarat not even in A'bad.

When there was no airport, my cousins & uncles from other city(Ahmedabad in particular) used to tease me that this is the only airport and airlines Surat has, he used to call it as Shah Airlines, but unfortunately the situation is still not very different.

Yesterday i went to Ring Road and thought to take some pics there, i had taken all the pics from fly-over while driving so some angles & quality might not be great so excuse that.

Millenium Market, Ring Road. The market which failed big time initially is now one of the biggest hits and after that the developers have planned Millenium-2,3 & 4 too.


RTM (Raghunandan Textile Market), Ring Road. It is a redeveloped market, formerly was a flop show and bought by another builder now.


Badri Tower next to it is Golden Plaza(Golden glass building), Ring Road.
Badri Tower, Formerly corporate office of saree trading company Kunwar Ajay which went bankrupt and is now taken over by Badri group which also runs a restaurant in city area.


Metro Tower(Blue glass building) and the one which is u/c is Kinneri theatre which is under renovation & soon will be converted to multiplex and heard that its being taken over by some national cinema chain.


21st Century office/corporate building.


World Trade Centre, next to it is Empire State Building, all corporate buildings nicely built.


Rivaa House, corporate office of big textile exporter.


RockFord, Udhna darwaja, Ring Road.


Nirmal Hospital, Multispeciality & known hospital - Civil crossroads, Ring Rd.
