Agreed.
The skyscrapers need to be clustered to form a high quality skyline as well. This is why Hong Kong's and New York's skylines are far better than Shanghai's or Seoul's. You can't just have thousands of commieblocks scattered everywhere.

Sure it's a nice skyline, but this isn't the "World's Nice Skylines" thread, it's the "World's Best Skyline" thread...Manila doesn't belong here.

The world's best skyline is opinionated. Manila can be here if he, or anyone else, considers it the best skyline in the world.

Read Desertpunk's post. Everyone is banging on about criteria but the only thing to gauge the best skyline by in this thread is votes, because it is a poll - so I would say which ever city has the most votes by the end of the year wins. It's purely subjective and in my opinion Sao Paulo is not very revolutionary or attractive so would not get my vote.

Manila's skyline is butt ugly. Manila and Sao Paulo are all just one big ugly apartment and condo stew.

1. Hong Kong
2. New York
3. Chicago
4. Toronto
5. Shanghai

I don't think most of those towers in Manila's skyline are residential towers. Putting it in the same league as sao paulo is a big

The main criterias should be the quality of the buildings, the balance and harmony of the skyline, the way one building relate to the others around, the esthetic mix of different arhitecture styles, etc.

But then again, most of us are men, so we have the obligation to be obsessed about size...

That's a reason Montreal ranks high on my own list. Balance, layers of history, density and the overall purposefulness of the buildings and the architecture rate highly for me.

There are no criteria - they are the skylines I think are the best in the world, up to date, revolutionary, pushing boundaries. I never expected everyone to agree or be happy. Sorry.

True.

I'm surprised that Chicago is still so low on the list... Its far too Iconic to be stuck with 26 votes...

There are only 4-5 cities that should have any votes as 'best in the world'. I'm more flabbergasted that Dallas got 2 votes and London got 5 votes, etc.

What about Istambul with 10 votes, and Atlanta, Houston or Los Angeles with 0 (as in ZERO votes)

Yes, that's why I wrote 'etc'. Atlanta, Houston, and Los Angeles should get zero votes. They all should, save 4-5 cities.
