I've always wanted to visit Hong Kong, it's definitely a wonderful place! I'm quite sure HK or NY would win this poll, and of course they deserve it. Thanks for all the amazing photos.

I am enjoying New York right now. But Hong Kong is the best skyline. Every building on HK island seems to be strategically placed for maximum skyline effect. In New York it's more haphazard.

The Hong Kong skyline is an attraction with the symphony of lights every night.

Actually HK skyline would be very different if it has no hinterland (China).

Everyone from China (imagine 1/4 of the world population) wants to visit HK, spend their money shopping, eating and all. Chinese businesses want to set up their headquarters in HK, buy properties in HK. International firms set up their headquarters there to enter China market way before China opens it's door. HK is like the NY of China. HK probably has millions of factories in China or owns many businesses in China, but they have their HQ in HK.

Could it have been the same if it has no support from a giant?

My view is that the country with the biggest population, will have more massive skyline and what more if it concentrates all its financial activities in relatively smaller places HK and shanghai (compared to the whole country) this is what you get, a HK skyline, yes indeed it is comparable to NY, but does it mean anything more than just beautiful?

This is just my opinion.

Interesting to see that Dubai hardly has any votes.

You included Pittsburgh on the poll but left out Minneapolis. It's a joke, right?

OK, Mr.Clever - it's not a joke, as I said initially this poll is subjective and I created it as a guide to what people think is the best skyline. This means that in creating the poll I picked 30 skylines (the most options you can have for a poll) which I think constitute the best skylines in the world. It doesn't mean it's gospel or I'm right - it's just my opinion and I don't think the list is far off the best 30. It also doesn't mean that it's a joke as what I seem to have got correct is including cities which have swept the most votes and response. Now maybe I am being a bit of an old cynic but something tells me that Pittsburgh and Minneapolis being fairly comparable cities would have swept up a similar amount of votes - somewhere close to none. Of course there's nothing to stop you creating a poll and proving me wrong, only then you might run the risk of some wise guy telling you it's a joke because some other city should be in there instead of your choices.

Yes and no really. Yes because they have spent so much on trying to prove that Dubai is a world class city and giving it the tallest skyline in the world but no because it is not in my opinion a good looking skyline.

Chicago should be way before HK, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Way more class.

Nothing special about the Chicago skyline. I think the cities mentioned have much more character.

I don't get your point. Are you saying that I created this poll knowing full well the results of this other poll, therefore the candidates in this poll are wrong? Just to reassure you - I hadn't seen this other poll before and to reiterate - this poll was created from scratch and is subjective and is in no way related to any other poll or opinion. I am not trying to be clever or correct like yourself - it's just the way it is, so let it go because I doubt I could ever be as clever as yourself.

chicago is still a world class skyline, right there with that tiny elite group of HK, NY and shanghai. saying it's "nothing special" is all but a sophisticated statement.

Saying Chicago's skyline is "nothing special" and crediting those retort skylines like the kinds of Kuala Lumpur and Singapur for having "much more character" - is nothing but bullcrap.

There's nothing that compares to something like the Magnificent Mile / Michigan–Wacker Historic District in those cities.

Only NYC can offer something of similar awesomeness

This building alone makes most comparisons with cloned modern skylines redundant:

I voted NYC. Why? Because is New York!! It has everything you can possible imagine in a city. For every taste for every needs. Is a city you can live in, work in, have fun in. With a great mixture of historical and modern buildings, NY beats easily plastics skylines of Dubai, KL, Shanghai, Shenzhen and others. Is my opinion that probably HK and Chicago can come close to that level.
