Panama City, Panama's skyline has been growing steadily since the beginning of the decade and it still has a large number of projects under construction.

LA is just a compilation of ordinary grey boxes of steel and glass, nothing special and nothing impressive.

I agree. But, we are talking about skylines. Not single architecture

I'd have to say Hong Kong followed by NYC. All the rest don't come close, and third place could go to just about any city.

I peeked at the results before I voted which influenced my voting. I was going to vote for Hong Kong but when I saw how few votes Chicago had, I threw my vote to Chi-town. A city that has six supertalls and it only gets 19 votes people....seriously?!?!?!

When NYC has 69 votes and HK has 74, Chicago deserves a lot more than 19 votes.

Agreed - having looked at some of the pictures of Chicago, I would almost rate it above NYC if it wasn't for Chrysler and ESB and having seen some cracking photos of NYC, I want to change my vote from Hong Kong to NYC - it's got the heritage factor.

New York will always be #1 in my book. Chicago just looks so well put together that it'll forever trail behind NY. Hong Kong is cool but I'm just not feeling the skyline being split in half by the river and the cool architecture being mixed with commie blocks so it would never beat NY & Chi (except for best Night Skyline hands down)...

So NYC's skyline is better than Chicago's because Chicago's "just looks so well put together" and Hong Kong's skyline is ruined by the "river"?!?!?!

Wow.

lol yea that was worded a little odd. I prefer New Yorks skyline over Chicago because of size factor, its much more chaotic and impressive from street level, and its the perfect definition of urbanity in my book. Chicago comes after NY in my opinion because it can really look so balanced from any angle you see it, and if you look at today's banner you can see it looks very recognizable at first glance because of the Sears Tower & John Hancock (and newly added Trump Tower). I would like Hong Kong's skyline a little more if the High quality towers such as the International Commerce Centre was on the same side of the river as the Bank of China and Two International Finance Centre. Just having that fat river dividing through it doesn't add much appeal in my opinion during the daytime. But as soon as the sum sets then it can easily jump to #1 (Time Square in second by a hair)

Hong Kong does NOT have a river. Hong Kong is an island in the South China sea.

Personally I love the way in which ICC balances the entry into the harbor more or less mirroring the shape and height of IFC2...

I love the way HK has the harbor divide it. The ICC really does balance it nicely. I would love it if when The WTC is built in downtown Manhattan, Jersey city would put a supertall to give it a similar look. But, in the real world, we all know that won't happen. Not until America starts to prosper again

Nice picture! IFC and ICC make it look like a mirror image!! Or like a gateway!

Yes - it was the intention to design 2 harbour gateways.
