thats great, I felt SZ was beginning to overshadow its older sister, but I'm really looking forward to seeing GZ again when back there in January

Update on the ticket sale

The third-phase sale of the remaining one million tickets started on 24th and they are still quite popular, tickets of several events such as badminton, table tennis, swimming and gymnastics have already been sold out by 25th.

surprised to see the closing ceremony tickets are also sold-out now. 24th is the deadline of transferring tickets (ID check is required for opening/closing ceremonies but not for other events), apparently the opening ceremony tickets were extremely hot on internet forums (10k RMB for a face-value 1,600 RMB ticket), while the closing ceremony tickets were not that popular.

Maybe its just me but I far preffer thee Guangdong Olympic Stadium(best stadium in china IMHO) to the Birdsnest, not as showy but still has alot of character and a much lighter atmosphere, good to see it get some proper use.

The Beijing Birdnest is taylored with specific presentation of ceremony in mind, and so is the temperary stadium at the island of Guangzhou.
