Odebrecht has details of the structure of Pernambuco Arena
Stadium will have six floors that will accommodate the 46 thousand

The Odebrecht construction company responsible for the Arena Pernambuco, presented yesterday (23) in Recife details of the structure of the stadium.

According to the contractor, will be six floors (one floor and two basement levels) integrated through eight escalators and 13 elevators, access ramps and eight entries in the 20th floor.

Of the 46 214 seats, the Arena Pernambuco has a total of 30 000 ordinary chairs and the rest of special seats (11,500), boxes (102 in all, to accommodate 1,600 people) and points (1900, sort of an open cabin, for up to eight support of people and tables).

In addition, Odebrecht announced the number of parking spaces provided in the internal design of the stadium: 4,700, 200 of them to the bus.

The contractor is still evaluating the possibility of illuminating the outside of the stadium in the same manner as the Allianz Arena in Munich, who won the opening World Cup 2006 in Germany.

At present, Pernambuco Arena is 30% of works completed. The stadium runs to be included among the venues of the Confederations Cup 2013. In June this year, FIFA decides whether Pernambuco - Bahia as well as the more advanced - will host matches of the test event.

Recife and Salvador "are not guaranteed" in the test event, LOC alerts

FIFA visits stadium at the end of the month and sets host cities of the Confederations Cup in June

From the editorial staff - São Paulo

Even with the progress in the works, the World Cup Local Organizing Committee (LOC) does not give clues about the confirmation of Arena Pernambuco, in the metropolitan area of Recife, and Fonte Nova, in Salvador, in the 2013 Confederations Cup.

For the LOC’s director of operations Ricardo Trade, the two cities have not proven yet they are ready to host matches of the test event.

"On April 25, 26 and 27, FIFA will make technical visits. They will be in Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Salvador and Recife. They will do a technical analysis so that at the end of June the Confederations Cup host cities will be confirmed," said Trade, also giving a message to Pernambuco and Bahia: "You need to deliver a project with all its structure. They know they are not guaranteed."

While the situation of the Salvador arena is smoother, the managers of Pernambuco stadium know they have the rope around their neck. On April 28, the president of the CBF and LOC, Marin, and the member of FIFA committee, Marco Polo Del Nero, revealed that the heads of the entity have expressed concern over the progress of the works of Pernambuco Arena.

A few days later, Marin turned a blind eye and, on visit of LOC, optimistically celebrated the stage of the works in São Lourenço da Mata, in Greater Recife.

"At the last meeting with FIFA, (Arena Pernambuco) was virtually eliminated. But I fought in favor of Pernambuco. They raised some doubts about the possibility of taking the stadium out, but I'm calm and I have absolute confidence Arena Pernambuco will be in the Confederations Cup," José Maria Marin said on this Monday
(April 9).

About one year from the deliver deadline, which is February 2013, Arena Pernambuco has about 35% of execution. The World Cup Secretariat in the state hopes to achieve the mark of 49% of works concluded by June this year.

Fonte Nova, in turn, ended the month of March with 54% of the works completed.

FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 match schedule presented in Rio de Janeiro

(FIFA.com) Wednesday 30 May 2012

With little more than a year to the kick-off of the “Festival of Champions” in Brasilia on 15 June 2013, the match schedule covering the six confirmed FIFA Confederations Cup venues was presented in Rio de Janeiro today (30 May 2012). All host cities other than the capital Brasilia – which will host the prestigious opening match – will stage three of the 16 games. To view the entire match schedule, please click on the Match Schedule PDF on the right hand side.

Last week, the FIFA Executive Committee ratified the six-venue model for next year’s eight-nation competition, which already has one of the strongest line-ups ever, featuring the already qualified hosts Brazil, world champions Spain, Asian champions Japan, CONCACAF champions Mexico and South American champions Uruguay, as well as the as-yet-unknown African, European and Oceania champions.

“This event is more than just a curtain-raiser for what is to come in 2014. Yes, it is an important operational test for the country and host cities, but at the same time it showcases football at the highest level. This has also been reflected by recent research, which shows that with 64 compared to 66 per cent, nearly as many Brazilians want to be in the stadium during the event in 2013 as for the FIFA World Cup one year later. And that is not to mention the incredible awareness for the event of 87% among Brazilians, which is higher than for the Olympics and the Copa América,” said FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke, who was joined at the media briefing by Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo and LOC management board members Bebeto and Ronaldo.

“We are committed to delivering the greatest FIFA Confederations Cup ever. It is a big challenge for the six host cities, who have worked so hard to come to this point. But their effort will surely pay off with memorable matches, great celebrations and the huge international awareness that the tournament will raise for these cities,” said Ronaldo, accompanied by his LOC colleague Bebeto. “This line-up of top-level teams will display their talent in six new or fully refurbished stadiums. After the competition, we will have half of the venues ready and tested for the FIFA World Cup. One year ahead. This is very important for our team at the LOC,” he added.

“The six host cities that will host the FIFA Confederations Cup will not only be the gateways to a great spectacle of football, but will also show Brazil’s greatness as well as the country’s and the people’s capacity to deliver. I am very confident that we will have an event that will be up to standard, as Brazilians and the whole world expect,” said Sports Minister Rebelo.

2014 commercial programme going from strength to strength
Today also saw FIFA make two major commercial announcements. Firstly, Wise Up, a leading English language school for adults which is present in over 70 cities in Brazil and all over the world, became the fourth National Supporter of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.

Through the sponsorship agreement, Wise Up will receive extensive marketing rights in Brazil for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 and the flagship 2014 FIFA World Cup™.

“Never before has a company from the educational sector supported the greatest event in the world, and never before have the eyes of the world looked to our country like now. We acknowledge both of these responsibilities with Wise Up’s support for the 2014 FIFA World Cup: we want to show that education is deeply necessary to develop a country, and that Brazil can be an example of tolerance and hospitality to all the people who will come here to celebrate their passion for football,” said Flávio Augusto da Silva, President-Director of Wise Up, the official language school of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.

The Wise Up deal is not the only major announcement from FIFA’s Marketing Division, with separate news revealing that Globo Marcas has been appointed as FIFA’s master licensee for both events, with the agreement running up to the end of 2014. With extensive experience in the licensing business, Globo Marcas has launched more than 3,500 products from 150 different brands since the company was founded in 2000.

José Luiz Bartolo, Director of Licensing at Globo Marcas, said: “Globo Marcas is very proud to be the chosen partner of FIFA in this once-in-a-lifetime event for Brazil. With our experience and knowledge of the Brazilian market, together with the quality integration with FIFA and TV Globo, we are sure to score many goals together in this important initiative.”

The newly appointed master licensee will have exclusive rights for the territory of Brazil, including the supply and distribution of official licensed products, the operation of official retail corners, and e-commerce retail operations. Globo Marcas will also take on the sale of official licensed products within the stadiums. To find out more about the licensing programme for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™, please visit FIFA.com.

“We’re delighted to be able to announce two very important agreements,” said Thierry Weil, FIFA Marketing Director. “Wise Up’s dedication towards improving the foreign language skills of Brazilians is commendable, and is aligned with FIFA’s vision to touch the world and leave behind an education legacy for the host country. We’re also convinced that by working together with a company as strong as Globo Marcas in the licensing field, we will be able to provide fans with access to a top-quality range of merchandise which will add to their experience of the event.”

Arena Pernambuco reaches 40% and promises 5,000 workers in the work

To circumvent the delays and ensure participation in the Confederations Cup in 2013, Arena Pernambuco should have the reinforcement of two thousand additional workers, reaching five thousand workers until November this year.

That was the main promise of the managers of the Pernambuco stadium, who announced the news last Friday (April 27) after a technical inspection of FIFA and the World Cup Local Organizing Committee (LOC). The visit is crucial for the definition of the arena among the host cities of the test event in 2013, as Salvador, which was inspected last Thursday.

Like the arena of Bahia, however, only one report that FIFA delegation will send to Zurich will determine whether Pernambuco will be or not one of the host cities for the Confederations Cup. The entity's decision will be made only in June, but one of the coaches already sees the situation of the stadium with optimism.

"The decision is not ours, but from what we saw in the location, and due to the effort of the state, we believe that Pernambuco will receive the Confederations Cup," the executive director of LOC Ricardo Trade said.

On the other hand, according to the secretary of the World Cup in Pernambuco Ricardo Leitão, the great fear of FIFA is not the stadium: "They are worried about some road access works, but we clarified that they are being made," he argued, adding that the urban mobility will not be a problem for the mega-events because the matches are going to happen in public holidays.

New index
In addition to the increase in the number of employees - only Maracanã will have more workers on the construction site - the Special Secretariat of the World Cup in Pernambuco (Secopa) updated the execution index of the work. The stadium, which was 35% finished, reached the mark of 40% in April and it is expected to reach half of the works completed by June, according to the secretary of the World Cup Ricardo Leitão.

"[The stadium] reached 40% in April, will reach 50% by the end of June and then will speed up to reach 100% in February 2013," he said.

According to a survey of Portal 2014, Arena Pernambuco was the second stadium that most developed in 2012, with progress of 13% only this year – just Mineirão progressed further, with 16%.

The work in São Lourenço da Mata, 19 km away from the center of Recife, started in 2010, and its delivery date is February 2013.
