Munich 2010 through nastyathenian's eyes

This month I had the chance to stay in Munich for a couple of days. My previous visits, starting in 1989, were rather short, so I missed lots of interesting things. Now I have a global impression of the city. My overall rating:

*****
Enjoy.

I’ ve never seen so many luxury shops in one street.

It was a surprise for me to see that the Olympic Park is so well preserved 38 years after the Olympics.

There is also a huge shopping center in the area.

Monarchies have a big advantage: Sovereigns make impressive palaces surrounded by luscious gardens for themselves. When they are kicked out, these premises are opened for the public.

This is Prinzregentenplatz, maybe the most beautiful square in Munich:

I have the impression that Germans have copied Ancient Greeks.

The city has even a beach.

You can even find commie blocks, but you have to search a lot.

This is the ugliest building in Munich, Central Railway Station.

Pipes for every taste.

If you are tired of the city, you can take S6 to Starnberg.

Munich subway. Combined with suburban railway, it forms one of the most efficient public transport systems in Europe.

Munich looks fantastic. I have no doubt that at some point in the future I will make it there for a visit.

I loved Munich aswell, great city in a rather wonderful part of Europe with great infrastructure and cultural life too! BTW it seems that river Isar gets angry this time of the year.

Thanks a lot! you´ve created a really nice compilation and overview of this city!
but yeah... someone already mentioned it more or less: you´ve completely left out most of the important museums. but nevermind! hope you had a great time!

Gorgeous city and fantastic pictures. It also isn't bad that you can reach the slopes of Garmisch in 40 mins (a Winter Olympic bid is in the pipeline).

It calls itself the northern-most Italian city and here you can see why. The only problem is that the city has become so well liked that it has the most outlandish and prohibitively expensive real estate prices in Germany.
