Though these interchanges aren't of the large variety, rural interchanges can be interesting from the air as well.

This is a new interchange which is about to start construction. It links the North-South Bypass Tunnel with the Inner-City Bypass and Lutwyche Road.

Zoomed

The area as it is at the moment:

This is the interchange of the Gateway Motorway(M1) and the Port of Brisbane Motorway

The Riverside Expressway, connects the Pacific Motorway(Metroad 3)(To the right) with Coronation Drive and the Inner City By-pass(to the left) with ramps on and off streets in the CBD.

This is the interchange of the Pacific Motorway(M1) with the Smith Street Motorway.

Quite possibly the worst interchange ever, the intersection of the Ipswich Motorway(Metroad 2)(East-west) and Centenary Highway(Metroad 5)(north-south). Absolutely terrible.

Another fairly bad one, the interchange between the Ipswich Motorway(Metroad 2)(top right-bottom left) and the Logan Motorway(Metroad 4)(bottom right).

Centenary Highway(Metroad 5)(north-south) and Logan Motorway(Metroad 4)(East-west).

Logan Motorway(Metroad 4)(East-West) and Mt. Lindsay Highway(North-South)

Logan Motorway(Metroad 4)(Left),(Metroad 6)(Right) and Gateway Motorway(Metroad 4)(Top).

Logan Motorway(Metroad 6)(Left) and Pacific Motorway(M1)(North-South)

Gateway Motorway(M1(Top right), Metroad 4(Bottom Left)) and Pacific Motorway(M1(Bottom Right), Metroad 3(Top Left))

Coming west from 169, that is the starting point of congestion, and the congestion goes all the way up to the sub-par 169/494 interchange. I hate that.

They need to get rid of those stoplights at 494.

Yeah, definatly. I think there's sufficent room there for a fully-fledged cloverleaf instead of that partial cloverleaf they currently have. They did make it better though making Pioneer Trail/169 a diamond.

I´m really ashamed on showing Rio´s junctions (speccially after seeing the ones from Toronto, Paris and L.A.), but, here we go:

1)Manguinhos Junction (the oldest one, links some of the expressways that head to the South Side - Copacabana - and the CBD)

2)Rio-Niterói Bridge Junction (Rio de Janeiro)

3)Rio-Niterói Bridge Junction (Niterói)

4)Avenida Brasil/Linha Vermelha/BR-040 Junction

5)Linha Amarela/Avenida Brasil Junction

6)Avenida Brasil/Via Dutra Junction

7)Avenida das Américas/Avenida Ayrton Senna Junction

8 and 9)Two junctions on Avenida Brasil

So where in the states is the "Land of flyovers". I remember seeing that somewhere. North Carolina suckes when it comes to building stack interchanges. I think the only 4 level stack we have in the state is in Charlotte. I think my favorite is the Dallas high 5. But where is the Houston pics I know they represent well with huge stacks.

Too bad Houston's stacks are symmetrical. Here goes the US 290 / TX 8 interchange:

I love symetrical stacks. For one they save a lot of space compared to other high speed interchanges and there is a artistic look about them. If I had my way I would build all major interchanges that way. Texas rocks when it comes to interstate stacks.

Well, there's only two real cool interchanges in Utah that I can think of (and a lot of weird ones). Both of them are in the Salt Lake City area.

This is the the interchange of the SR-201 freeway, I-80, and I-15 on the border of Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake, Utah. Interstate 80 comes in from the east and merges with I-15 northbound while State Route 201 comes in from the west and ends. There are ramps to/from every direction on all three of these roads here. There are also exits to several surface streets (including long exit ramps paralleling I-15 northbound exiting onto 3 streets leading into Downtown). This interchange is locally called the "Spaghetti Bowl" and I think is the busiest interchange in the state (either this one or the one below). It's a compact and fairly complex 4-level stack interchange...although it's not quite on the scale of some of the other ones posted here.

This one is further south, the interchange between I-15 (north-south) and I-215 (east-west) near the border of Murray and Midvale, Utah. The closest thing to a full cloverleaf interchange we have in Utah.
