pretty sure the Bay Area doesn't have a I-480 or I-180. I think I-480 used to be the old Embarcadero Freeway, but that was torn down after the 89 quake.

Alaska does too have some cool freeways. Like the Palmer Highway leading out of Anchorage. Fairbanks has a cool freeway too.

Some freeway driving from the home of the automobile: Detroit

Driving southbound I-75/Chrysler Freeway from just north of the city through downtown.

Short drive through Midtown to southbound M-10/Lodge Fwy. On Jefferson Ave. past the RenCen, then north on 375, 75 and back to Midtown

Starting on south 75 in Detroit to westbound I-94/Ford Fwy out to Metro Airport about 20 miles outside the city in Romulus

I really never thought I would ever see a full picture of Los Angeles given how huge and spread out it is, yet here it is. Thank you so much!

Doubt it very very much!

Mass transit systems are way too expensive and need a pretty big density,LA is way too sprawly.

LA is actually pretty dense. The average lot size is much smaller than let's say Houston or Atlanta.

That is very true indeed. I think that the I-238 idea came about (in addition to the former unavailability of I-x80 numbers) from the road it connects to - CA238.

That's correct. There is no I-38, not in California or elsewhere in the US.

You think those thousands of miles of freeway and four level stack interchanges were cheap?

LA was pretty dense before the construction of freeways enabled sprawl in the valley.

No they aren't but they aren't even near as costly as a heavyrail system and that's for sure!
