Some motorway images from Preston, England. Home to 4 different motorways:
The M55/M6 intersection in Preston

Commemorative plaque to the country's first motorway in my city!

The M6 when it was first built. At the time it was known as just the Preston Bypass. That section of M'way now has 8 lanes

Same section of motorway in 2005

A few images from The Gravelly Hill interchange in Birmingham UK. It is commonley known as 'Spaghetti Junction' and is the product of the M6 motorway meeting several main routes including the Aston Expressway which is the main commuter route into Central Birmingham from the north

this is the philippines' north luzon expressway (nlex), the main route to the northern luzon provinces from metro manila. it has a total length of 84 kms. from 8 lanes in its south end (manila) the nlex narrows to 4 lanes as it reaches its north end (pampanga province).

Yup, the newly-built highways are among the world's best!
But the government MUST refurbish the old higways such as Madrid-Burgos (A-1), MADRID-ZARAGOZA (A-2)!!!, Madrid-Honrubia (A-3) and Madrid-Sevilla (A-4); they're PATHETIC!

Australia's M1 motorway below:

This motorway is the largest and busiest regional motorway in Australia and runs between the two cities of Brisbane and Gold Coast. Given that they are so close together it attracts a lot of commuter traffic. It is eight lanes wide for the most part but goes up to 12 lanes in some places.

The above image was taken from google.earth and is situated over Yatala which is midway between the two cities.

Motorway's in Oz are called that because they have tolls on them don't they? Non tolls roads in QLD, NSW and in all other states are called Freeways.
