I think now it is time to put some pictures from the regions of Azerbaijan called "Middle Ages" here.

Note: the second and third biggest cities of Azerbaijan are Ganca (310 000) and Sumgayit (290 000). The rest cities have population below 100 000

Here is Ganca

swietny jest ten Azerbejdzan. Podoba mi sie ta mieszanka klimatow: troche srodziemnomorskiej Europy, Bliskiego Wschodu etc.

Azerbaijan is famous for having 9 out of 11 climates on the Earth. That is really incredible for 86.6 thousand sq m country

I hope I could make a good presentation of Azerbaijan and break at least some stereotypes about this country. I hope you enjoyed it and thanks for attention!

Nocny przejazd z lotniska do centrum miasta iście imponujący.

Do I have to write the same things over and over? I repeated already for several times that Azerbaijan had a bad infrastructure as a heritage from the Soviet Union. We had hard times in economy and a war with Armenia. 20% of territories of Azerbaijan are still under occupation by Armenia and therefore every 8th citizen of Azerbaijani is a refugee

P.S. And yes, if it makes you feel happier let's say we are the poorest country in the world with no infrastructure at all and no hope for the future

Don't worry. For most western europeans is Poland "this" country somewhere in EASTERN EUROPE.
Some of our polish users fight here until today with stereotypes like that

@Galandar - what is your problem? Am I cheating anybody? Am I lying? I dont think so. I wrote what I saw. OK-I could have written that Aze is almost like Sweden, but what for?

What I wrote are my feelings and impressions from my visit to Aze. If you have different point of view feel free to discuss it. I would like to hear some economical or social details about your society or country.

I dont blaime you as a nation that you have lower level of life than most of European countries. I dont judge if your politicans waste money or not. I just share my opinion with other SSC members. This IS how Azerbaijan looks like. I didnt write a single letter WHY is that.

It doesn't make my happier when you say Azerbaijan is the poorest country in the world. In MY OPINION Aze is one of the poorest countries in Europe, if you consider Aze as an european country of course.

And one more thing - please remember than not only Azeri history is full of tragical facts. Not only Azerbaijan was Soviet slave, not only Azerbaijan has/had a war.

I know but it does not give the a right to repeat from the very beginning of this topic about middle ages regions and poverty in Azerbaijan. This topic was supposed to be one about Baku. Some started to compare Baku to Warsaw and some even felt into depression... Isn't it strange?

Azerbaijan is the poorest in Europe? Yes "sure"

Do you know that since 2002 Azerbaijani state budget increased over 10 times from 1.5 billion to 16.5 billions USD?
Do you know that not only oil but also non-oil sector of Azerbaijan was growing over +10% during the last several years?
Do you know that overall reserves of Azerbaijan are over 25 billion USD and they are growing day after day?
Do you know that in 2009 Azerbaijan had +9.3% GDP growth (+ not only in oil but non-oil sector also) with 10 500 USD per capita in 2009?
Do you know that Azerbaijan with over 1 bln USD investments is the biggest investor in neighboring Georgia and also investments of Azerbaijan to Turkey, Moldova, Ukraine and Kazakhstan counted billions of USD?
Do you know that the whole foreign debt of Azerbaijan is only 3.5 billion USD?

After all would you still call it one of the poorest in Europe?

of course not. How could I called it one of the poorest countries in Europe? Now, when you told me those datas I will call Azerbaijan one of the richest countries in the world! Woohoo!

That is my last answer to you in topic of "Aze the richest country in the world". I don't care how many FDI you have nor that your foreign debt is only 3.5 billion USD. I saw the poverty I havent seen in coutries like Albania or Serbia. Is that clear for you? You can consider Aze as rich as Austria, you can post many datas about your wealthness. But you should compare the poorest part of society of Aze to the poorest of other country. And that comparision makes you one of the poorest countries in Europe, along with Armenia and Moldova.

now let the other ssc members make conclusions.
