New tallest tower for Beijing
TFP Farrells presents designs for bold mixed-use high-rise in Beijing's CBD
http://worldarchitecturenews.com/index.php?fuseaction=wanappln.projectview&upload_id=15735

Designs have been released for the Z15 Tower - Beijing’s tallest new building - courtesy of TFP Farrells. Working with BIAD, ARUP and MVA, the
international firm has produced designs for a towering curved structure which will dominate the skyline at over 120 storeys and more than half a
kilometre in height. Located in the new extension to Beijing’s Central Business District in the east of the city, the gleaming high-rise is comprised
of 60 floors of Grade-A office space, 20 floors of serviced apartments and approximately 20 floors of 300-key hotel facilities.

The collaborative group are aiming to use the latest in sustainable technology, materials and engineering concepts throughout the build. Offering
over 300,000 sq m of high-class facilities, the Z15 Tower will form a vital component of the 30 hectare masterplan for the expansion of Beijing’s
CBD. This vast development incorporates 2,000,000 sq m of office space, six-star hotels, luxury serviced apartments and high-end retail that
connects to the existing metro station and adjacent shopping mall.

Yang Baojun, Vice Director and General Planner of China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, explained: “The scheme submitted by this high-
calibre joint venture and led by CITIC, won first place of the five CBD land plots. Its greatest advantage is considering the overall urban spaces,
architectural design and various engineering techniques in a unified manner to formulate a fully integrated urban design scheme in macro, meso
and microscopic terms.”

CITIC wins 6.3 billion RMB site with TFP Farrells 500m+ Super High-rise Design
ctbuh.org

The design by TFP Farrells, BIAD, ARUP and MVA will be the tallest building in Beijing. The new ‘Z15’ Tower, located in the east of Beijing at the heart of the new CBD extension, will be over 120 storeys, and more than 500m high. As part of this 30-hectare masterplan at the core of this district, the design incorporates 2,000,000m2 of office space, six-star hotels, luxury service apartments and high-end retail that connects to the existing metro station and adjacent shopping mall. This 300,000m2 tower includes Grade-A office space over 60 floors; 20 floors of serviced apartments, and an approx. 300-key / 20-storey hotel, complete with state-of- the-art facilities. The tower’s smooth contemporary vertical curve gives the building an elegant expression that will assist in maximizing the floor area at the top and provide structural stability at the tower’s base. Z15 will utilize the latest sustainable technology, materials and engineering concepts. Situated close to the new CCTV Headquarters and China WTC 3, Z15 will become an international iconic landmark of China’s future.

“The scheme submitted by this high-calibre joint venture and led by CITIC, won first place of the five CBD land plots. Its greatest advantage is considering the overall urban spaces, architectural design and various engineering techniques in a unified manner to formulate a fully integrated urban design scheme in macro, meso and microscopic terms.”

i wonder if it also will surpass Taipei 101 in height. But how high it will be, it will be awesome. the simple design, that still makes it so sexy with the slim form fits perfectly to the area that is located so near to the CCTV building

It has a simple shape yet it doesn't look like an ordinary tower.Don't know if I like it or not.

Umm, No. I think the user is wanting 588m because it has a good meaning in Chinese? There are already many towers in China that are taller than WTC in NY and even more, like the completed SWFC, that are taller than it if you consider height to roof and when you add in dubai and russia and India and Japan, you will realise that 541m isn't really something people would really want to beat if they were having the height race.

It's an absolute beauty, and I reckon the real thing will look even better than the renders. I definitely want to see this built as soon as possible.
