I have a feeling whatever will be built on the site will be a lot more conservative. Mostly because of this:

that plot is 20km away from where it appears on that sign. and the design is a bit different as well. i'm still sceptical if it's the same design. however both projects seem far too concept to take them seriously now anyways. Sadly that is, especially that design further away from the center is one of the best proposed supertalls designs there is.

On any diagram overview on this or other fora, it is nowhere to be found. Not even as a 'vision' or 'proposal'.

I haven't noticed before i saw the last pictures that the arch is on the ground a bit offset. And twistet together at the hight point. More spectacular than ever!
But what i don't understand is why they put it in the city modell near cctv building and CITIC Plaza although the plot is 20km far away?

it's not 20km away, there is another arch proposal that's 20km away. for this one, we don't have a thread

I don't think it's bad or anything, but not as exciting as some other recent developments.

Mostly, it reminds me of the Canton Tower, and it kind of pales in comparison.

I still like it, mostly.

I dunno I just don't like buildings that are wider at the top than at the bottom or in the middle. It looks too much like a flower. Better yet and orchid.

Maybe it also looks awkward since it's kind of singular in it's surroundings...? If there was some more infill, it might "fit in" a bit more.

Anyways, I agree with the basic sentiment that something about this doesn't sit right. Though, I do like the basic design.

I had/have similar problems with Shanghai Tower....I think it's just gonna take a while to get used to buildings that have these kinds of massings.

^ There are 2 supertalls right next to it (of which one is still U/C), plus a handful of 200+ buildings, so I wouldn't call it singular. Beijing's CBD has already a significant skyline:
