Very impressive building in many respects but doesn't wow me quite as much as Shanghai Tower. But will be great for Beijing!

By Green all around. Image hosted on Flickr.
The Z15 is the one plot you see to the left. The Right one should be Z8 and Z9 |

all tall buildings are centered around there, the current highest is only 500m away, so is every other 200m+ building in beijing |

I generally don't like buildings that widen at the top...
But for this one I'll have to make an exception. Looks great! |

The green avenue to the right is Chang'an road and the one in the south, east third ring. On the Z8 & Z9 plot there are temporary housing for workers on site. Hard to see from this view but the dug holes are quite deep |

i think i read the same article as you.According to the articles the building will break ground on September 19th. It also says that it will have 104 floors, plus 4 basement levels, and that it will be 510m tall Sadly though they also point out that the final design has yet to be decided on... Sounds like it might be the same design that we have seen:
Article: http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/90882/7589895.html "Located at the north of the central area in the CBD, Beijing's tallest building will reach a height of 510 meters. A depiction of the building based on its designs shows that it will be shaped like a kind of wine vessel used in ancient China. The committee also said the building will have the texture of woven bamboo, while the top of the building will look like a flying lantern, both traditional Chinese symbols." |

Theirs so few Chinese buildings in the proposed section. I guess it's because china is getting things built, while we american sit here and wait for years to see our 30 supertalls move from proposed to approved. I'm sure there are many ways to elaborate my reasoning but that would just throw everything off topic.

It was pretty clear if you ask me. He is surprised because there is actually a Chinese tower in the proposed section of this site, when usually, the Chinese just go and build it. He is also expressing displeasure at what few supertalls America has, takes years to go from proposed to construction and many get cancelled.

Yeah for a Chinese city, Beijing doesn't seem to be as booming in terms of skyscrapers in comparison to other large Chinese cities.
