Yeah if you're crammed in anyway, at least the developer is not absolutely maximizing the land and giving the residents no parks. I'd take a little personal space / communal space compared to if those towers were abutted right next to each other, IMO.

But it's always neat seeing skylines next to mountains. Not sure of their altitude but they must be high. Makes the city look tiny ;p. Meanwhile loving the cladding on this tower!

The cladding on all the towers in the last photo above is progressing quite quickly now

Exactly one year ago I took some photos of China Zun Tower and published them here (and here).

Now, one year later, I returned to Beijing and took new photos. When comparing them with my one year old pictures the fast progress just overwhelms me, it is already now the tallest building of Beijing.

Such pace in building new landmarks is only possible in China. To cover the whole building in a photo is now only possible using the panorama option of my phone. It is just amazing how tall the building grew in the last twelve months:

(Reference: all are my own photos, published on Flickr)

The last photo depicts a poster at the construction site, showing most current and future modern landmarks of Beijing.

I think it has been canceled in favor for a 300m box. after some search i found the plots: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...1&postcount=28

and if SSP is right about their location, this tower seem to be in the spot now:

My friend is Chinese and she lives in Tongzhou where the arch is planned by the river. I asked her the same question and she said that she believes the rumor is that they will start with it this year. Again, this is not a fact, it is juat what I heard as a rumor.

They will spend, and are spending, a lot of money into the development of Tongzhou because this is where the Government moved or will move. For that reason the real estate prices have already rocketed in that area.

This is a view from the Olympic Park Observation Tower at a height of around 250 meter towards the Central Business District with Zun Tower. The photos were taken last week Saturday, 14 January, and the weather was perfect. Even the hills 60km to the west of the city were clearly visible. Only one day later, from Sunday 15 January on, the smog was back as the third photo shows (however, the third photos was actually taken on Monday 16. January).

Am I allowed a little off-topic? When I saw CCTV Headquarters again I was shocked how worn and dirty it looks now. The heavy pollutions seems to be paying its tribute to the building's apperance. It was real sad to see.

Dirty buildings are standard in China.
Once completed, nothing is maintained, it seems...

Thanks for pointing out the tower thread. As a seldom visitor to this forum I did not know there is a thread for that beautiful tower. And I see the thread is still open, so I can add some photos there. Some architectonical details are very amazing, for example the underground access hall with its openly visible massive tower foundations. I will add my photos in the thread you just showed me, but not before tomorrow.

This is quite sad, but I'd like to see this photo without any filters. I don't know much but I have red that China is working on diminishing its pollution, but how? And what results have they come to so far?

Well, I don't think the CCTV Hq is dirty and worn. I went to Beijing in Christmas, and it looked pretty shiny. Maybe the smog made it look unpleasant.

I saw the Olympic Park Observation Tower. Very stunning.

Besides, How tall is the Zun? Very sharp and shiny windows.

I published two photos with no post processing and no filters in the Thread for the CCTV Headquarters building.

well, multiple major cities under 'red alert' for smog made international news about a month back. Dealing with pollution is a long game though.
