I don't expect the big XII to ever invite TCU

EDIT: Damn! Beat me to it!

Oh well, the renderings can be found here.

Also, the Armed Forces Bowl will relocate to SMU's Gerald J. Ford Stadium for 2010:

Good to see they're keeping the teams and activities in Fort Worth.

I live in Southwest Fort Worth, so you know I'll keep tabs on it....

Who knows?

All you can do is what Utah did, and that's make yourself look as attractive to one of the BCS leagues as possible.

Let's see what OU has to say about the new digs when they come to visit in 2012.

The good thing about the project is that it should be 75 percent complete by the start of the 2011 season.

That way they can begin redevelopment of the east side after the 2011 season if the funding is secured.

Just they have drawings, items can still be "value engineered" out.

Also, when the Big XII (which HQ'd in Dallas) has a commissioner who says the current group of schools has no interest in expansion, then TCU will have to wait to 2016 at the earliest to gain admission under the current system.

"If an institution in this region of the country that could bring great value, more value than what we would have to provide to them was to step up and want to be a part of us, then maybe we'd have to look at it. But right now there's no affirmative interest by our members in expanding whatsoever."

Pretty soon there might not even be a Big 12, if the other members get butthurt about Texas making more money.

At least they are together for at least the next five seasons. Today's MWC and BYU news may have that conference on an even shorter lifeline.

Lookin good in the new renders, seating bowl is little quirky on the main side, but unique. And I can't hate on anything purple.

They'd be stupid to leave for a third-tier conference with only 6 members.

Since the project has already been paid for, I doubt it.

Stadium construction begins after Dec. 5 implosion of west stands

In about three weeks, Amon G. Carter Stadium will receive its first major facelift since 1956. It is anticipated that, from time-to-time, the stadium renovation construction will impact streets, parking lots and sidewalks closest to the stadium. The University will keep the campus informed as needed about the construction through TCU This Week, e-mails and www.stadium.tcu.edu. Renovations will conclude in time for the 2012 season and will not interfere with home games during the 2011 season.

On Sunday, Dec. 5 at approximately 8 a.m. Austin Commercial, the general contractor overseeing the renovation, will implode the stadiumís west grandstand. The University is currently working on viewing locations for the public for those who desire to see the stadium implosion and will announce those locations once they are finalized.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 9 at noon in the Mary Wright Admissions Center, there will be a campus meeting to discuss stadium construction. This meeting is open to the entire campus community, however, space is limited. You must arrive early or on time if you would like to attend.

The last home game in the existing Amon G. Carter Stadium will be Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at 3 p.m. against San Diego State. During the game, past Lettermen, cheerleaders, Addys and SuperFrogs, managers and trainers will have the opportunity to join the Horned Frogs creating the "tunnel" for the football team as they take the field. A post-game ceremony will include a video of the stadiumís history and future and will conclude with a fireworks display.

The football game will feature special activities, giveaways and mementos to commemorate Amon G. Carter Stadium. During the game, commemorative programs will be available. Fans will also have the opportunity to buy the commemorative concession cups for $2, or $5 for the cup with a drink. Free t-shirts will be available to students prior to the game and will be distributed Nov. 8 and 9th from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the BLUU lobby outside Market Square and in the Clark Brothers statue mall area. Other commemorative shirts are on sale in the TCU Barnes & Noble Bookstore.
