Today the bus-network in southern Bergen is being refreshened. At the same time Bybanen has upped headway to 10min. They also turned on information displays, showing the two next departures.

I'm disappointed to see it's so unreadable. That greenish color is not the best in sunlight. The ones we have in Oslo are much better, if I can say so.
Not anything against Bergen, but sometimes I wonder why public agencies doesn't learn more from eachothers. |

I totally agree. I start to wonder why they chose LCD instead of LED like you have in Oslo. BUT, the picture lies somewhat. It is not unreadable at all. It's not so bad actually, but they could make the font bold and write "1 min" instead of "01" . It looks like som newbies did the work. Quote:
This is the same as in Bergen, but with "1min" and halfway bold font. If we don't have LED-displays, they could atleast do something small like this. ![]() Personally i think they should have chosen one of these: Mitron LED

yeah, "01" makes it look so "slurvete", you know? i dont think its very hard to read it in real life, but there is definitely room for improvement and i wouldnt mind at all if they changed them out with something better..
also, i read that the changes in the bus system created a lot of chaos today.. i think its very cool that theyve removed all the buslines connecting nesttun to the city! though i know some people dont think its that cool.. like my friend he lives in nesttun and once when i took the bybane with him there was this handicapped woman in a wheelchair right infront of us, and she kept staring at us and every now and then she would make this really weird sound.. then, towards the end of the trip she started screaming like hell as if she was having an orgasm and me and my friend couldnt hold our laughter back.. we ended up exiting the train one station before we were supposed to. i swear, i had the worst feeling of guilt ever.. but i had so much tears in my eyes i couldnt even see properly and i was trying my best to hold it together but it was simply impossible! we felt like shit afterwards, though.. but i guess we've all experienced something like that. makes me think of that talkshow guy who couldnt stop from laughing..but yeah, ever since hes been complaining to me about there being too many handicapped people on the bybane who gives him stares and stuff.. so he told me he was gonna take the bus instead incase of another incident where he cant hold his laughter back.. cause its incredibly rude and you get the worst feeling of guilt ever.i guess the bybane is too handicap-friendly! so yeah, i guess he wont be to happy when he find out hes forced into taking it now..i read that the bybane is totally packed nowdays, though.. id love to try it now i guess itd give sort of a "big city feel" in a way..

I've seen some photos where a number of buses were painted in the same colour scheme as the Bybane trams. Is this going to be the new livery of Bergen's public transport?

Yes, that's correct. The first ones came with "rutepakke" Bergen sør, the new bus system in southern Bergen. Right now there are about 100++ new buses running in Bergen, mostly the southern boroughs (Fana, Ytrebygda). More will come with the other "rutepakkene" next summer. ![]() Photo was taken in may/june

Does Bergen have plans to purchase any new trolley-buses for its electrified network?

Not that I know. They have some pretty modern ones (photo 1) and some old ones (photo 2). Of course it would be nice with some new modern ones, perhaps the same as the new volvo articulated buses we've just got.

As this article says, only new buses will get the new look. The old ones will still remain as they are now. http://www.ba.no/nyheter/politikk/article4763955.ece

I find no trouble in reading the display, even in sunlight. Besides, there´s always rain in Bergen, you know.

Bybanen stenges i 11 dager
Two buses and a light rail ride to the city center for me now... But I think it'll be worth it. And in not so interesting news, they changed the font on the displays to bold. They just got much more readable

I bet at one point they will have to remove the track in the city centre, and replace them with an underground metro system. Having above-ground tracks after Danmarksplass is just ridiculous. They also have to straighten up the huge turn on Fantoft, it's a gigantic annoyance. |

I wonder if this proposal still stands? What happened to it? It annoys me that we have to wait with starting the next construction steps until 2016 when the 3rd one is finished. |
