CLEVELAND Photo Tour (July 2010), Part 3: Murray Hill, Little Italy, Cleveland Clinic, Progressive Field
Here's Part THREE of my Cleveland tour.
If you missed either of the last two parts: Part 1 Part 2 This part of the tour includes the Murray Hill Neighborhood, Little Italy, Cleveland Clinic, and Progressive Field and game between the Detroit Tigers and the Indians. Murray Hill, on Cornell Street ![]() ![]() ![]() Little Italy ![]() ![]() ![]() La Pizzeria, where I ate, the place just opened not long ago, the pie they have is very fine, like what it should be in Italy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Main Business Area of Little Italy, corner of Murray Hill and Mayfield ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Holy Rosary Church ![]() Nice Park in Little Italy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() These homes with three storeys and an angled roof are typical of what you see in Cleveland. ![]() ![]() Back at the Medical Campus of Case Western University ![]() ![]() More typical Cleveland homes... ![]() ![]() A little Tudor style near the University ![]() Looking west on Euclid, waiting for the Health Line Rapid Bus... ![]() Cleveland Clinic Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Pavilion Building ![]() ![]() Glickman Building and Tower ![]() ![]() Lerner Research Institute Building... ![]() ![]() ![]() Intercontinental Hotel ![]() East Mt. Well done! When I lived in Cleveland, I use to eat at Mama Santa's on Mayfield all the time! Great food there!

Plentiful residentials there are gems. The apartment with the pillars stands out.
Any areas with brick row-homes in Cleveland ? (Like Cincinnati) |

This may sound crazy, but Tremont vaguely reminded me of New Orleans when I visited a couple months ago. The shady tree-lined streets, historic homes and serene neighborhood parks felt a little like the Big Easy to me.
I love Cleveland! |

Nice pictures. You had some good seats for the game.
The Cleveland Clinic looks like it fuels the growth of the region's economy. I've heard about a lot of people from the eastern half of the US and much of Canada going there for treatment. |

It actually does, a lot of sports athletes and celebrities have gone here for treatment, including, I remember Teppo Numminen when he played for the Buffalo Sabres. It definitely helps fuel the region's fragile economy, but I don't know what else would.

Cincinnatti is an older city with a lot more brick apartment buildings & rowhouses than Cleveland. Still, as in the photos, Cleveland has a remarkable variety of housing types. Some of the East Side neighborhoods like Hough had blocks of large multi-story brick apartment buildings rivaling those in Chicago. Other districts had sprinkings of brick row houses. Various types of 1 & 2 story frame houses predominate on the West Side & in much of the East Side. However, a lot of houses & buildings in Cleveland are empty owing to the population decline & many have been torn down. |
