We need more politicans like Charles Casuscelli who actually know what progress is and is supportive of the town centre redevelopment in Strathfield.

From The Inner West Courier (22/3/2012)

Shut up and back project: Casuscelli
24 Mar 12 @ 05:05am by Oliver Murray

LIBERAL MLA Charles Casuscelli has told the group behind a petition opposing the Strathfield town centre redevelopment to “shut up” and support the project.

Mr Casuscelli discussed the underground bus/rail interchange stage of the project with Treasurer Mike Baird last Friday.

Strathfield Council is seeking $600,000 from the state government for the detailed planning of the town centre after spending $2 million on a masterplan.

The masterplan for the $150 million project includes an underground bus/rail interchange in the first stage, with later stages including a new town square and high density mixed use developments.

“This proposal recognises Strathfield is a major transport node that badly needs upgrading and modernising,” Mr Casuscelli said.

Mr Casuscelli was disappointed a petition was being circulated to “Save Your Strathfield Square” from high-rise developments.

“This will be a positive change for the Strathfield community and economy. It’s disappointing some people seem determined to live in the past by not embracing the opportunities before us,” he said.

“If they are not prepared to represent things accurately they should shut up.”

Mr Baird said the project was a “once-in-a-generation type opportunity” and he would make inquiries about funding the next stage.

WHAT’S NEXT
■ A review of infrastructure projects is under way as part of the government’s transport masterplan.
■ Consultants are also examining different bus/rail interchange proposals.
■ Those two reviews will determine when the council receives funding for the town centre.

Here we go, the three cranes are for the twin Railway Parade towers. You can also see two cores poking their heads on the skyline.

Burwood sure is developing a mini skyline in its own right. Hopefully it links up continuously with Strathfield.

They have had a skyline for years, except that it lacked height. The wave of developments from the past couple of years means they will get a proper skyline.

I've noticed from my shot, part of the skyline (left of image) has been cut off.

tbh i dont blame the council and residents killing off everything in the innerwest its so fkn congested its horrible. Such an ugly polluted overcrowded area. So much lowrise in the innerwest has destroyed the landscape ugly building followed by ugly building in the midst of small congested roads and hugged by the queen of disgusting (Parra Rd)

At least in some parts they are building upwards - i.e Burwood and The Golden Triangle at Strathfield. I drove through that part of Strathfield and it can already been mistaken as part of Inner Sydney.

What are they building near Ashfield station on the southern side? I've gone past this large site weekly on the train and have always been curious about what they are going to build there.

Sorry if this has already been answered.
