Its named after Mecca because the few rocks embedded in this mosque came directly from Great mosque of Mecca, Saudi Arabia itself.

Forgetpassword......My pleasure. Islam came to Indian Subcontinent almost a 1000 yrs ago. The idea of this thread is to let the viewers know how different these Grand Majestic mosques in India are from North to South, East to West. Its breathtaking. For instance, the Hindu regional influence on the mosquees, the Mughal influence (central asian), the Turkish (turks) influence, the Bahamani influence, the indo-sarasenic influence. the Ottoman (hyderabad) influence, the south indian (arabian peninsula) influence. These mosque one way or the other has incorporated every regional & traditional values of Indian subcontinent in their architecture. its truly amazing.
