432 Park Ave is just awesome. It brings a dramatic contrast in the boring midtown skyline. It's height together with it slim shape is just great and spectacular.
Its absurd how some worship the minimal shape of the twin towers but bash this tower.
Boring Midtown skyline!? Huh?

I´m so excited that this is U/C. The new tallest building in NYC!!!
This building is so unique - the shape ratio is just amazing, I understand that someone can dislike it, but I just love it.

Midtown has a relatively flat skyline with a lot of towers of the same height.
I like Midtown's skyline but in some way it's boring, One 57 and this tower will bring a nice contrast.

In the coming years, the Midtown skyline will be the star in NYC! 432 Park has grown on me. I was unsure at first but now I like it. I like it because it us unusual and unique, with its narrow width and tall height. It will definately be a cool addition to the skyline! And all-residential...

I have a couple questions, has the CBUTH formally changed 432 Park's status to "under construction"? Also, any idea when we might see some formal updated renderings? Lastly, what is will the building's final roof height be? Or are the developers keeping that a secret? Any chance we might see 432 Park rise over 1400 feet?

It has grown on me too, I bet the shiny nickle finish will be amazing, plus 1400 solid feet is a good way to kick of NYC's supertall boom.

Oh and one more reminder to change the title to 89 floors

It's nice to see NY having three 400m+ towers U/C in the supertalls forum.

Looks like there is still a long way to go with the excavation work.

Sure but there are so many of them and most are relatively tall. More would stand out if there weren't as many and that area wasn't so densely packed with tall buildings.

I prefer Chicago's skyline because there is more contrast and they aren't packed together so tightly. The 4 supers dominate nicely. I do see your point though. But the east and west views of Midtown are sweet.

I have wondered sometime know about this beautuful buildings facts?

In this thread it will be 82 floors, 426 meters tall = 1398 feet.

In "scp" thread it will be 89 floors, 432 meters tall = 1420 feet, and last, in the www.skyscrapercenter.com it says 89 floors, 426 meters tall.

What is accurate and what is wrong for those gyus who knows the real facts.

Thanks

the CTBUH says 1398 (426m) and 89 floors.

But that can be subject to change as well.

I love both Chicago and NYC'S skyline, and prefer each for different reasons. But, I wouldn't start a city vs city in a building thread, that will get you banned. Just be careful in the future.

Nice shot thanks for posting...but excavating is complete with the exception of little digging here and there for footings...and the ramp which is all fill...the area underneath was already blasted and excavated (they did this first) and then it was filled in when they moved the ramp from the west end to the east end..it will come out very quickly when they need to. this building is rock'n roll'n!

Wonder what kind of sway there would be on the upper floors during heavy winds for a building that tall and slender. Would it be enough to require Dramamine for those without their sea legs? Even much heavier and stiffer buildings of that height get noticeable sway on their upper floors during high wind episodes.

AGREE

This could be the tallest building in the western hemisphere. They only need 17 meters to come up to 443 meters from 426 meters. Thats 56 feet.

But in SCP this building is 432 meters = 1420 feet and than we only need 36 feet

So that it becomes even more disproportionate? No thanks.

I really don't get why people are so obsessed with numbers. I couldn't care less whether a building is the tallest in New York/the USA/etc. If a building is ugly it will be of no use to anybody that some document says it's 443 metres. People should care more about the architecture and the look of a building than about its height.[/sermon]
