No chance for 2WTC. Placing bets on 432 Park and 3WTC would be a far better idea

I agree with you if week take the DOB filing as Gospel the building will not have a 'beveled' or finned structure...the perimeter columns and beams will be rectangular or square in section. If you look closely at the floor plan you posted again which of the spa health club...what is interesting is the window detail...and this is what I was alluding to earlier...you will see an L shape between the columns and the window structure that hints that this will be an indentation in the facade surrounding each window element...this is the 'bay window' effect I spoke of earlier.

Mercenary

You will see in the photos above that the bedrock is only a few feet below grade in this part of Manhattan...the foundations are locked into the surrounding living rock. the primary footings for the tower are about 65' below grade.

dexter2

there will be a six story retail building fronting on the 57 street side...flush with the existing buildings

Damn, that' some density right there! Gotta love how NY erects a 400m+ tower in such a dense area without making a big deal out of it. Very classy.

"it's a chimney isn't it?"

I don't think so. it looks temporary, perhaps one of those chute things builders use to throw rubble and stuff down into a skip.
Besides, a chimney that long and thin wouldn't work very well.

Chimneys actually work better the longer they are.

Up to a point, but chimneys work on convection and if the flue gases cool halfway up you aren't going to get much of that.

We will have two 400m+ residentials rising simultaneously in NY. This and 225 W 57th.
