Columns won't be put up until the foundation is 100% complete. And yes im sure the tower crane will be erected before any framing work starts on the sub basement

Doesn't have to be..One 57 got crane when was already above the ground..Mobile crane and all those machines seems to work well down there.

I don't know why I expected more rebar sticking out the bedrock at this stage..

They aren't pouring the base that will be directly under the tower yet. You already see the rebar at the edges of the tower base, we will most likely see much more rebar before they will start to pour the base underneath the tower where the concrete base will probably also be much thicker then this.

Does anybody know if the structure and the columns will be different below ground compared to their look above ground? Are those three big rebar chunks visible from the 56th view perimeter columns?

Based on the drawings from the previous post I would indeed asume that those rebar chunks will be the perimeter columns. Just for the idea I did a very quick paint making the comparison a bit more visible. The blue dots are the outer columns that are already there as rebar or as concrete. The orange dots are the ones that aren't visible yet. The lines are self-explanatory.

I understand why the columns on the 56th street side aren't there yet, because the site is so small the ramp for the excavators has to be over the future columns.

Thanks for the info Momo

I wonder why are they building only each second column on the side furthest from this camera. Could it be to allow access of mechanisms beyond those columns?

^ If you look at some of the renderings, they show that at the base there is only 4 columns on the northside in the podium instead of 7.

I hadn't seen that one, it fits perfectly with what we see on the webcam.

I updated my simple paint effort. I also missed one of the corner columns at the 56th side that is already there up to ground level.

"The blue dots are the outer columns that are already there as rebar or as concrete. The orange dots are the ones that aren't visible yet. The lines are self-explanatory."

4 columns that are already up to ground level.

6 columns that are now just rebar sticking out of the bedrock.

11 columns that aren't there yet.

21 in total at basement level to the 4th floor, and there will be 24 from the 5th floor and up to the top.
