THanks so much for the info. What is the purple box? Also, what is the wood framed box above it.

And right now on the cam they are making yet another one below the purple box.

This is fascinating to watch :-)

Does anybody know how much of the footprint will be taken up by the core? It will have to be very small!

Hahahaha! Agreed. This thing will virtually have to be wedged inbetween its surroundings to remain stable!

Excavating for the core footings today! and forming more column footings for western perimeter columns
According to the filed plans it appears the core will be about 35' square.

Maybe it's a staircase shaft for an underground entrance, but I'm not sure

The amounts of rebar in the column's that are at ground level looks quite low considdering the height and with of the tower.

I guess whether that is still OK or already bad depends on the thickness of the rebar. I don't have much experience watching skyscrapers rise so I'd like to ask, is the rebar thicker or thinner compared to other skyscrapers?

If you look at the close up photos on the web site you will see that the rebar is actually quite large and densely packed.

The wood structures are forms...these wells coorespond with the bases of the main service elevator and service stairwell.

Those boxes are elevator shafts.

Thanks. But that seems strange that elevators and stairs would be on the edge of the building instead of in the center.

From what I understand the elevators in the core will be for people while the underground elevators at the side will be for supplies. I guess this is so that supplies can be transported between the underground floors and maybe a few above ground floors without the need to wait for elevators for either those carrying those supplies or residents

Check out the pics developers ordered to show views from their future building. But only to 1000ft, higher floors will have even more amazing views.

So considering the construction is going well do you think that the buildings height is final.

Ok, those elevators would only be for the basement levels. I didn't think of that.

Thanks.

yep, allthough I would prefer a location just above the surrounding buildings, with more depth in the view.

LOL, I just saw a funny thing. One of the big orange excavators was pushing a truck to help it get up the ramp
