This is painful. Giant ugly box. 420m. Giant ugly box. 420m. Giant ugly box. 420m.

What wins? They need to go to town, and get the FAR changed for bigger floor plates. Perhaps stick in a courtyard or two.

My modest proposal:

thats the ping an building being built in china. one of the nicer designs being built in china in my opinion.

OT: RobertWalpole has hinted that there is still a not-yet-revealed surprise element to this building that may make it a little bit more interesting.

Lol modest? 648m of gold facade in a location that makes it appear taller then it already is? That's funny XD

But no I like the Ping'an IFC

i do not like the ping an honestly. but its more of the idea of the tower than the actual design.

Or, a little proposal of my own invention, after a 1/2 hour in sketchup.

440 Park Ave.
445m to roof
520m to spire
105 stories
(5 retail, 100 residential)
440 Park is the last word in residential luxury, with one hundred floors of apartments designed for the most discriminating of international luminaries. When completed, it will be the tallest residedential building ever built. 440 Park has not one, but two swimming pools, one Olympic- sized, indoor tennis, basketball, squash, badminton, and volleyball courts, a 50-seat theater, 100 wine cellars, 200 storage rooms, 12 private reception rooms, and it's own club (see River House and the River Club). On the 100th to 104th lies the penthouse, with a 2000 sq ft open air terrace, which, at 1410 ft, is guaranteed to impress even the most jaded of guests. The 105th floor is a 75ft long solarium, bar, and observation deck open to all residents. It also has a lot of other stuff the author has forgotten.

30 floors are available for development as a hotel.

That's the shrunk down version. The full 4x size actually shows all of the details.

That's correct. The tower will be a flat-topped, square box sans tapering, setbacks or a crown. However, the massing model lacks a critical element which makes the tower rather interesting and not a mere box. It will be no Torre Verre, but it will be somewhat cool.

UGH. Another Trump World Tower, only on steroids. Raphael Vinoly just blew his last shred of starchitect cred.

Of course this could simply be a placeholder design and a 'stalking horse' for the approval process.

This is really nice. I don't know how people haven't said anything about it yet lol. Good job though. I wish this would happen :/

According to this post, made by scalziand on SSP. The boxy design we have seen. Isnt a Vinoly design. It's a never built design by: Andrea Ortega.
