Trump is designwise probably the best example of 'less is more'. A tall black monolith with a high quality finish and the right proportions.
A much better tower than this one, IMO.

Trump World Tower is one of my favourite buildings in the world. I hope 432 will turn even as half as good as it!

I just don't get why you keep writing about this building? We got your point a long time ago. You don't like this building even though you have never seen it. (no one has). If you you are going to post here can't you come up with something interesting and constructive to say? Maybe I am being a little harsh but I think it is a bit early to be so critical.

Forming of the core is making good progress in spite of the rain...it's a real mud hole down there today.

Wow! The core has already risen ten feet! This is taking shape so quickly. Maybe it'll top out 2013...

At least it's better than right after that big storm cause back then it looked like one of the WTC memorial pools

Btw, as tthe core rising. That concret square that is rising is not the core. The core will be inside that concrete square

Must be a pretty small core then. That box is only about an 8 ft. x 8 ft. judging by the size of the workers.

EDIT - Are you talking about where they have poured concrete, or the box inside it??

I didn't mean just the deep hole in the center, I meant everything within the inner perimeter of the poured square section is the core and has a side of approximately 30 feet

Do any of you think the building should start rising by late November?

Not really, it is so thin that it isn't at all imposing. It can be seen from everywhere but it doesn't bully you with its austere presence. If this were a thicker tower I would agree that it would be unsuitable.

As for the design, the facade reminds me of some stunning buildings from Singapore (OSBC, UOB) that have similar repeating elements and light colored facades. They exude minimalist presence and have that less-is-more philosophy. There is no busy po-mo to detract from the purity of the form and this leads ultimately to produce a more powerful and profound effect on the observer as a result. Similarly, although simple this design has a cool minimalist feel that almost has a bauhaus and early modernist feel to it. Really nice to add a building of this style to NY, and it will contrast nicely with other more busy designs to come (Verre, etc). IMO, I'm over the moon that we have towers going up that do not have glass curtain walls at every site.

Yeah it is amazing how much they have done this morning...none of those center core forms were in place at 8:30...I got a good look through the fence and that center pit looked to be about 15-18' deep...now the forms are up to the level of the pad...all of this is being cast into the bedrock

I wonder what will the cross section of the core look like. They really have to utilize that space for the maximum if they wanna deliver enough elevators to the building

I wish a famous project downtown worked as quickly.

Just to be clear, the formwork that you see in the middle is not the core, it's too small for a tower this height.

You can compare the webcam image with these blueprints that were already posted in February.

It looks like it's just the base of one of the elevator shafts inside of the actual core.

We also see the base of one of the perimeter columns on the right side of the tower.

Yes, that is the foundation for the central residential service elevator. As you can see on the drawing there are four residential passenger elevators and one central service elevator within the core...all elevators for the hotel and spa floors are outside the core...it appears that the one as they say 'commercial elevator' left of the core looking north and the 'residential service' elevator are the only ones to reach the lowest levels...can't wait see them start forming the walls of the core..any day now
