Park Ave cam down and 57th Street cam back in close up mode which I like.

You can clearly see the depressions where the core rebar is. Very interesting.

Cool video. Thanks for sharing.

You sure don't appreciate how loud the excavators are from the web cams

Also, you can see in your video they are loading lots of ROCK. If they missed on dropped some of that on a car they could do some real damage.

I could hear the guy saying you might be able to get a look in. I bet most of the construction workers would let you have a look in accept they would be putting their jobs at risk. With what liability is these days no way will they let a bystander get close, sad to say.

The machine was definitely loud for how far away we were from it, I wish I had a better mic for my camera so you could hear the actual voice/noise, not that it's not good already but a better mic sure would be nice.,,
I think the main reason that he said we could have a look in was because I had my manitowoc cranes shirt on and probably realized we knew what the machine was and all,

Loading of the rock/dirt continues today. Looks like tomorrow or Thursday might be the last day of excavation. Hopefully we see a tower crane soon.

Will try to make it down to the site tomorrow morning, if I do I will post pics

Will this be the biggest building by roof height in New York?

THe excavator is already halfway in the street. I don't see how they can go much further with this without closing the street off.

Maybe they'll close the street one night and finish this then?

I assume they'll also need to close the street while setting up the crane.

As you can see on the Park Avenue cam, they have half of the street to work on.
The excavator can stand here while digging out the last parts.

With one lane open for traffic they should have enough space to do anything, including setting up the crane. They might at most hold up traffic for a couple of minutes when bigger crane parts are lifted.

Maybe you are right - though it will be a tight fit with the dump trucks getting by.

Also, doesn't look like they can close the doors to the site anymore - guess they'll have to have security there 24/7 until the excavator is gone.

That's a great point! never thought of that until you said it, maybe they will manage to fit it but I doubt it since it barely fit last night.

From the looks of it now it doesn't seem like there is a lot of dirt left to load.

Looks like they are trying to close the doors right now and it isn't working too well :-)

They seem to have made a makeshift fence around the excavator as an alternative for the door.

It seems fair enough to say tomorrow they will be complete loading the dirt out but will they keep the Hitachi there to lift material down in the pit? They need to still cover the floor with stone before they pour the concrete. Seems like they need to get a crane in there ASAP

I don't know, there could be a couple of days worth of dirt though as a complete amatuer who am I to say

Regardless I want the crane aleady and I want concrete to start moving upward again already. Not having interesting constuction work to follow on the cam means I am actually having to do work at my job as otherwise I am completely bored. And trust me, I hate doing work at my job.

there is a lot that has to happen before they go vertical in this one.

there are a couple 100ton plate girders that go in, columns and trusses too.
