Probably will see the street closed for 1 day when the crane gets erected. I doubt they will install a luffer to set the pieces of the crane. Being that the rig there right now is owned by Lomma (the small RT Link-belt) I bet they will erect it, so when ever they do I'm sure it will be view able on the cam.

The arm of the crane is now clearly visible on the 56 cam, nearly right above the footprint of the tower crane. I dunno but would they do that if they would still wait for another mobile crane?

It's a type of crane like the type used on 1wtc.

I'm kind of bummed - will be out of town and away from the Internet access for a couple of weeks. Enjoy the show and hopefully when I get back they'll be in full swing on this project.

Yes, the tower gantry style cranes on 1WTC do use a luffing jib.

What 325 was referring to is a luffing jib (lattice boom) on a mobile hydraulic crane that has a solid boom. (example using a LTM1500 here http://www.alfarisuae.com/wp-content...G-OF-BARGE.jpg)

They use a luffer on the hydraulic cranes because it allows for more capacity at distance.

I believe the heaviest portion (the motor works) of the 760 is around 35000lbs

Lots of materials being craned in today. This is the 3rd truck so far and the biggest. This site is going to get very busy next week with plenty to watch.

Yes indeed. Thing is it all looks so neat and organized. I wonder how long that will last?

I really hope we'll see pouring next week. Shouldn't take long. Forms are already in.

Small crate transport and inspection work continue. I could be wrong but to me it looks like they are in the final stages of preparation for further construction

The drawings on the zoning doc (http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/BS...de=ES307925638) show the tower to be 93' 6" wide and 1398' tall...works out to 15:1 by my math...still pretty freaking skinny though.
