The CMBS market is in a serious squeeze right now. Financing for proposed talls will be difficult to get while so many market uncertainties persist. Don't expect much news on this one unless privately arranged financing can be acquired...

Yeah, the render will be big news and if it's good enough, it might stimulate interest among potential equity partners.

Reach out to Canada. They're financing skyscrapers right and left up there.

Private financing followed by traditional loans was the route that Carnegie 57 took and that Hines plans to take with Torre Verre. There is a lot of private, foreign money lining up for investment in safe-haven cities like NY and London.

There are also a lot of projects under construction in NY that procured traditional financing. In fact, I read during the week of 12 Sept. 2011 that a consortium of banks just provided a $550m construction loan for the St. Vincent's condo project that's about to start.

Honestly the one that I saw a few pages back is simply horrible. I truly hope that they are not proposing this crap for real.

THe actual design is better than the box that was shown. While it's largely box, so is 1 Madison Park, but that tower is interesting.

Don't expect too much, it's not like anyone promised that..Some big news SHOULD be released this month..No one said "renders will be out this month 100%"..

So what is the height?
And it is 100% certain that this will indeed be built right?

Height isn't certain. Should be well over 1,000 feet though, 1200-1300 feet isn't outlandish.

This building doesn't need any approvals of any kind, but needs financing. As was posted, this is the most valuable undeveloped property in North America, and it's location is almost as prime as is humanly possible. Couple that with the state of the high end residential market in NY, it's thru the roof, so hypothetically this should get financing easier than other projects.
