I have a feeling it will be in that opening along 57th, seems like the other crane would hit into it if it was in the building. Plus when they were pouring today the guys had to push the bucket back and forth and let the concrete pour out when it was past where the crane's radius.

bigreach, thanks for the compliments on the photos!

What about in the core?
Cranes are not usually placed in the core.

Most likely the engineers laying out, axis lines, column & walls lines. . Some people are going to making a lot of money on that job.

This would make sense...we discussed this some time ago..speculating that another crane would go in the hole on 57 st side

I'm not to sure, probably around that size. I'm pretty sure it's only to lift the bar up there

Now:

Will the second crane stand in the red square?

I don't get the need for a second crane. One57 doesn't have one and doesn't this have smaller floors?

Also, I don't see any evidence they are set up to recieve materials on 57th Street although they could do that easily enough.

Definitely flying on this. Good to see them make up for the rain delay last week :-)

the footprint is pretty large.

also, there is a very large and very heavy truss that goes in the retail and podium area. I figure that is why they went with a 760 favco. i cant find a reason for that beast in concrete construction

The Tower's footprint is tiny and will fit in between the townhouses to the east and west.

If there won't be concrete pump installed I would be surprised if there wasn't second crane here. But since 157 have just one crane and no concrete pump I guess we can expect everything in this city.

No that is where people think there might be a second smaller crane. The thing is unlike the main crane that location was not prepared the same when the foundation was poured so I am not exactly sure how it will work or if it might just be a small temporary crane to help with the retail section before the main tower starts to rise.

Also looks like a concrete pumping vehicle arrived a few minutes ago

They are setting up to pour the slab on 56 street side today...concrete pump is now in place

With regard to the second crane...it may be only to build the 57 st retail building (6 floors)...it may be that the tower will rise faster and would limit access to the far side? Just a guess.

Looks like they are actually pouring tower perimeter columns on 56 st side

site is really swarming with workers today
