No. It's the area that comes right to the edges of the townhouses on the east and west.

Since the facade is part of the structure, it won't be long until we know what the squares look like.

Also looks like a concrete pumping vehicle arrived a few minutes ago
LOL, imagine if that would be the footprint of the tower. A 4 square meter floor slab with 1 ladder to get up and down in the tower

Could be a crane going in that void. The main crane needed its own base because 1) Its bloody massive and 2) when the building tops out it will be 430m+ to the top of the boom and that will weigh a lot. A smaller crane will be able to go on a special support that spreads the load over the floor slab and have its own counterweights.

i did not say the tower.

the footprint of the project is large considering the leg going to park avenue along 56th street.

Look in the low right corner, it wasn't zoomed in. That cam just zoomed in by itself for a short time.

Ugggh, bad news. A huge storm forecast for NYC next week - gale force winds and heavy rains most of the week from a Hurricane and artic storm coliding over the US mid-atlantic. They could lose most of next week for this project. Hope they do a big pour of the floor tomorrow so that doesn't get damaged by the storm.

sorry for my lack of knowledge ,but is the ply underneath being removed or will there be a proper system being used on each floor ,cos the ply method looks a bit long winded . please put me right .

Today they placed more of the floor and they were pouring under deck.

Right now they are still pouring where I drew the red square before.

Marked with the red circle, new cages of rebar for the columns ready to go.
With the blue circle, one more being assembled.

once they get into the tower they will likely use a slipform system.

this is used now because it is not being repeated too many times and because the shapes in the cellar levels are awkward.

It seems they want to bring up the part which is important for the towers superstructure up to street level ASAP, before they hurry with the part that will be occupied by the retail annex. This thing is surely flying, unfortunately itīs design lessens my excitement. :/

Will the second crane stand in the red square?
I'm going to put in my 2cents. That opening on the 57st side is most likely (95%sure) is for removing materials and formwork after is has been stripped. It's a "pass up hole/opening". Since no machinery (boilers, water heaters etc) was placed on that sub basement floor it's a pretty safe bet that the opening will be framed and poured within the next week or so.
Then again they can always use the opening in the 56st side closer to park ave. but it seems to me like that area is being used for staging & makeup of the rebar column cages.
Thanks for reading
