Well, the structure of the tower itself is far more complex than the structure of the retail lowrise base. I'd say they most probably plan to focus on the tower and use the unpoured retail area for transporting material in and out of the interior of the tower's underground floors. Once the tower is up to street level and they don't need an access point of large dimensions anymore, they can easily finish the less complex retail space while they already focusing on the above ground floors of the tower. Though, that is just my guess and 2 cents

A concrete pump is on site and ready to go. Looks like the floor slab is ready to be poured today. We'll see

And now perimeter column pour.

I wonder if they are going to do some overtime tonight and in the weekend with the big storm possibly coming up after the weekend. If only to get the site prepared for when the worst predictions come true.

I think they should. They have been working a bit late in the evenings. Definitely don't want any loose debri hanging around.

They have tendons that reach deep into the bedrock, from what I know

The supercolumns don't go down that deep, just to the bottom of the hole that you can still see at the right of the webcam capture posted by Eric. There the columns pretty much rest on the Manhattan bedrock. But the columns are anchored into the bedrock by steel tendons that go down into the rock for several tens of meters.

This will look really tall cause it's thin. But somehow the simplicity of it appeals me. All we see these days are giant glass supertalls, so this is nice cause it's different. Don't get me wrong, love all the glass tallness!

Based on how the site was left today my guess is they will work tomorrow. Hard to tell from a cam but a number of things look loose and just laying around, including sheets of plywood. I would think they would secure them before a potential big storm.

the storm won't do much to this site in the middle of Manhattan. Flooding from rainfall would be the only problem.

Indeed, in this construction phase rain is always an issue.

They're now busy pouring the slab in the area that borders with the right side of the tower's perimeter from the 56 cam
