This is a first class building with first class residential space for the richest people in the world so I expect it to be only the absolute top quality

It's not empty. There are some people working but not many. Probably only those who have to catch up are working. I am sure they have a schedule and they can't get behind but they can't get ahead either.

Watching at those update pictures, I noticed how they connect those rebar cages. Pretty simple, obvious and easy method. We were discussing about it earlier.

Tadaaaa:

Quite common, I think. Saves a lot of assembling and welding time.

Was wondering the same thing, looks about the same size as the core but no idea where it's going to go.

With Saturday's abbreviated workday, the northeast opening's next floor level was formed, and today, the rebar crew is working on installing reinforcement.

On the 56St side, workers are assembling what I believe will be the vehicle hydraulic elevator, to be installed in the opening just beyond the assembly area.

A worker can be seen atop the four-story buiding south of the site on 57St, assembling what will be protection for that buiding as the tower rises above it.

Ah ha that makes sense, as always thanks for providing some extra insight into the process.

With the rebar placed and completed this morning, concrete is now being placed for the next level within the northeast corner opening.

in all honesty - it is only a temporary wall for cement pouring. It can be made of wood and still do the very same thing with same results. It has nothing to do with anything in terms of quality. But it is certainly fancier way.

this is actually a stronger way of making the "box". more expensive and time consuming too.

But they also help to reduce wastage of rebar and usually pay back the additional expenses. I remember recommending this as part of value engineering to a large engineering conglomerate in India.

More time consuming? They can make these rebar cages off site (prefab)
