That will be stunning. Absolutely stunning.

Sounds super fast but if the sign was right and they will finish in 2014 then it has to go up that fast.

At some point it will be nice if someone can give diagrams and show us how this contraption works. It looks like a metal frame system which is meant to maybe be lifted up hydrauically as the building progresses.

But I can't think of how it works. Looks like they will be pouring concrete on top of it - if that is true then they clearly can't lift it up.

Is it that they WON'T pour anything on top of it and that this is just to help with the walls of the core and that the ceilings/floors of the core will be done once this has already been lifted above them?

If I sound totally confused it is because I am. If someone thinks they can unconfuse me please do.

The following is a graphic of the system to be utilized:

As it relates to the column cages, all them will be built off-site and ahead of schedule. This is certainly the most efficient way this can be done. Please note that both the columns and the spandrel beams are actually high-strength threaded bars - like foundation tie-backs - and not traditional reinforcing.

In terms of schedule, the bottom half the building is schedule to be a 4 day cycle for typical floors and the top half will be on a three day cycle.

I hope this clears some stuff up for you guys...

I love that the windows are large enough to offer amazing views, but not so large that they're hard to deal with. Never thought complete glass walls were good ideas for residential buildings, since they're harder to cover. This will be the first tower in NYC where you can say "look down, there's the Empire State Building"

Edit: Those renders look amazing, by the way. Definitely brought up my respect for this tower.

not depicted are the Hudson Yards Office Towers which will be rising alongside if not before 2 and 3 WTC. If you're living anywhere up there, you're getting your money's worth with the view.

It is interesting that these floor plans and renders show bath tubs with million dollar views. However the shower stalls have no exterior view at all.

To my peasant mind, this seems opposite of what is preferable. I shower every day and would love to be able to gaze over the city during those few minutes every morning. Twice in my life I've lived in a place that had a window in the shower. Thinking about it now, I probably spent more time looking out of that window than any other window in the house.

My guess is that the showers were not placed in front of the windows because it ruins the clean lines of those square windows, that it was done for purely aesthetic reasons. Unless the ultra-rich take more baths than us commoners, this seems like the only logical explanation.

I absolutely love bathing and in this bathtub I would bath for several hours with those views. Hell, I could bath there the whole day. Definitely one of the most awesome renders ever posted on SSC

Especially the windows. They are huge allowing for great views yet they aren't going from floor to ceiling, so you don't get to feel like something on display in a shop
