Why was the word 'boxy' necessary?

Found the pic. I'm guessing they will use the crane with the mast like this. Black parts down, then that white part that everyone think it's the base and then white parts.

I don't see how it sticks out like a sore thumb. It is a taller and slimmer version of a midtown box, with a far nicer cladding than many international towers.

So will this appear more white than the pale blue that older renders display it as? If so, I'll like this building much more.

White concrete cladding I believe.

Those black parts are probably going in the hole on 57th street. There was already one black section delivered about 2 months ago or so. It was placed in the hole on its base by the tower crane that operates now. So it's reachable. White sections could go on top of the black sections, or they could be part of the third tower crane which will construct steel for the retail part and the cube.

Also, 56th street will be closed his weekend, so they will use it to assemble jib for the new tower crane. Since it's on the 56th street, current tower crane will place it up. When you think of it, current tower crane will catch new jib in the middle so it won't even have to reach all the way to the 57th street.
Okay, that makes sense. I indeed saw that the the current crane could reach into that hole.

Won't they clean it just as they clean the windows?

White concrete cladding? Similar to what the MLC Centre in Sydney has? It ages and will never looks as timeless as other methods. Please let them do something else.

It has already been stated that surface will be white ARCHITECTURAL CONCRETE which means that the color is cast into the structural material
NOT a cladding. Examples of this were posted back in December. We should know soon enough. And yes 57 st crane will be going up tomorrow.
Actually a smart idea given what has happened to one 57.

That's true. I can't even imagine how much money Extell lost because of the crane caused evacuation and delays

A huge meeting taking place just outside the fence at 56St. At 12:30PM (EST), the entire work crew filed out of the jobsite enmasse. In addition, the 56St cam has just been repositioned, so 56St is barely visible now. Meeting over, men back to work. 57ST cam also repositioned.

White masts are for the existing rig and the black ones are for the new one going to be erected

There is a chance the 4 black tower sections will go in first, then that half white tower section converter, then the new white sections.
