This is being built as of right and does not require the NYC LPC's approval like Torre Verre and 15 Penn.

That's about 84 floors, or 90 if they count the mech floors as two floors. Do you think they'll play around with the floor numbering to make it a 100+ floor building?

What are the odds of this thing being built? As in, 5-8 years from now, will there be a 1300+ft supertall here?

I've been burned to many times(see chicago spire, pentominium) to believe with certainty that this will be built

It's being built. The developer is spending tens of millions of dollars to relocate tenants in the buildings it owns so that it can raze them.

The Spire was a dubious bet from the start because the developer repeatedly said that he needed to sell the units at prices far beyond any level per sq. foot that Chicago had ever seen. It would be like the developer of this tower saying that it needed to sell at $20,000/sf to make the project viable.

Moreover, there is a huge demand for luxury space in NY at the $5k/sf level and higher.

Work at Drake site hits snag

Just when construction started gearing up on the long-stalled Harry Macklowe tower on the former Drake Hotel land between East 56th and 57th streets and Park Avenue, the site was slapped with a Partial Stop Work Order.
According to notes by the city’s Building Dept., excavation work began without the agency being notified and without securing a neighboring property, which reported a problem with an elevator pitwall on Tuesday.
The site received two violations and a Partial Stop Work Order was issued Oct. 5.
Last week, visitors and doormen in the lobby of the adjacent 450 Park Ave. were rattled by noisy jackhammers as work started in earnest on the site now owned by CIM Group and being developed in conjunction with Macklowe, who was the previous owner.
The Post’s Steve Cuozzo reported on Oct. 4 that jeweler Bucellati, a tenant in one of the East 57th Street townhouses, was finally moving out. This leaves just the townhouse owned by Jacob the Jeweler as the lone holdout for the development’s front door.
Reps for Macklowe and CIM declined comment.

There may be a small, very high-end hotel. If so, I doubt that it will be more than 10-15 floors.
